Studies have used extensive clinical information to predict time-to-heart failure (HF) in patients with and without diabetes mellitus (DM). We aimed to determine a screening method using only computed tomography calcium scoring (CTCS) to assess HF risk. We analyzed CTCS scans from 1,998 patients (336 with type 2 diabetes) from a no-charge coronary artery calcium score registry (CLARIFY Study, Clinicaltrials.gov NCT04075162). We used deep learning to segment epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) and engineered radiomic features of calcifications ("calcium-omics") and EAT ("fat-omics"). We developed models incorporating radiomics to predict risk of incident HF in patients with and without type 2 diabetes. At a median follow-up of 1.7 years, 5% had incident HF. In the overall cohort, fat-omics (C-index: 77.3) outperformed models using clinical factors, EAT volume, Agatston score, calcium-omics, and calcium-and-fat-omics to predict HF. For DM patients, the calcium-omics model (C-index: 81.8) outperformed other models. Objectives: Determine differences in quantitative stenosis severity measurements for ultra-high-resolution (UHR) photon-counting-detector (PCD) coronary CT angiography (cCTA) relative to energy-integrating-detector (EID) cCTA in a large patient cohort.
Methods: Adult participants seen between November 2022 and March 2023 underwent a clinical dual-source EID-CT cCTA and a research dual-source PCD-CT cCTA on the same day. Percent diameter stenosis (PDS) was measured, and stenosis severity was assigned based on the PDS of the most severe lesion per patient to determine a coronary-artery-disease reporting and data system (CAD-RADS) score.

Non-dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers (CCBs), including diltiazem and verapamil, inhibit cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4), an enzyme involved in the metabolism of hydrocodone, the most commonly used opioid in the United States (US). This study evaluated whether concomitant use of hydrocodone with CYP3A4-inhibiting CCBs increases the risk of opioid overdose compared to use of hydrocodone with amlodipine, a CCB that does not inhibit CYP3A4. Using three US databases (2000-2021), two cohorts were identified: (1) hydrocodone initiation while on CCB; and (2) CCB initiation while on hydrocodone.
