Objectives: Recent evidence suggests that the gut may be a primary site of metformin action. However, studies on the effects of metformin on gut microbiota remain limited, and its impact on gut microbial metabolites such as short-/medium-chain fatty acids is unclear. This study aims to investigate the effects of metformin on gut microbiota, short-/medium-chain fatty acids, and associated metabolic benefits in high-fat diet rats.

Donor-derived cell-free DNA (dd-cfDNA) has emerged as a valuable noninvasive biomarker for detecting allograft injury in solid organ transplantation. It is released into the bloodstream from the transplanted organ as a result of cell injury and immune activation, with baseline levels influenced by organ type, tissue turnover, and posttransplant physiological changes. Several analytical platforms are available, including quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR), digital droplet PCR, and next-generation sequencing, each differing in sensitivity, throughput, and reporting format.

Objectives: To investigate the effect of serum advanced glycation endproducts (AGEs) on stenosis after first autologous arteriovenous fistula (AVF) in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD).
Methods: Patients with ESRD undergoing standard native arteriovenous fistula (AVF) for the first time in the Department of Nephrology, Affiliated Hospital of Guilin Medical University from February to June 2022 were prospectively enrolled. The preoperative general data, clinical examination results and ultrasound data of the operated limbs were collected.

Background: Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) is a significant contributor to cardiac mortality in Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) patients. Inflammatory processes and oxidative stress play pivotal roles in the advancement of Pulmonary Hypertension (PH). The Monocyte-to-High-- Density-Lipoprotein Cholesterol Ratio (MHR), a newly identified biomarker indicative of inflammatory and oxidative stress, has not been extensively researched in the context of pulmonary hypertension, especially within the scope of dilated cardiomyopathy.

Purpose: Prior studies in fresh embryo transfer IVF cycles have associated elevated serum progesterone level on day of ovulatory trigger, particularly if ≥ 1.5 ng/ml, with decreased pregnancy rates. A similar association has been found in intrauterine insemination (IUI) cycles using gonadotropins for ovulation induction.
