The escalating global demand for food and industrialization has placed significant pressure on the integrity and management of inland lake ecosystems. Herein, the organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) pollution status and their relationship with dissolved organic matter (DOM) in Dongting Lake were investigated to identify the ecological risks and potential sources of OPPs. The total concentrations of 18 detected OPPs were in the range of 13.49-375.24 ng/L, with higher concentration observed in east and west lake regions. Among these, fenthion was the dominant contributor, accounting for 64% of total OPPs, posing significant ecological risk to aquatic organisms. Nearly all of sites showed high combined risk of total OPPs. Parallel factor analysis (PARAFAC) and fluorescence regional integration (FRI) technique showed that DOM was mainly composed of terrestrial humic-like and tryptophan-like substances. Moreover, correlation analysis revealed a close association between DOM optical parameters and OPP concentrations. Specifically, OPPs exhibited a significantly positive correlation with tyrosine-like substances, while displaying a negative correlation with fulvic acid-like substances. These results indicated that OPP concentrations may decrease with increasing humification levels and declining tyrosine-like substance contents. This study underscores the critical role of DOM in assessing the occurrence and sources of OPPs in aquatic environments, providing valuable insights for effective environmental management strategies.

The decontamination of chemical warfare agents or compounds involved in chemical industry incidents poses a significant challenge to environmental protection and human health. These compounds are highly toxic and could be relatively resistant to conventional decontamination methods. In recent years, surfactants have emerged as a promising option, as they can enhance the solubility of organophosphorus compounds in aqueous solutions while promoting their degradation or adsorption onto surfaces.

Chlorpyrifos (CPF), a widely used organophosphate insecticide in cotton cultivation for controlling Aphis gossypii, has Binodoxys communis as the primary parasitic natural enemy of A. gossypii. This study evaluated the impact of two sub-lethal CPF concentrations (LC10 and LC30) on key biological parameters across two generations, transcriptomic responses, and symbiotic bacterial communities in B.

Background: Previous studies involving cleanup via conventional solid-phase extraction (SPE) materials to overcome matrix effects for the polar organophosphonate and -phosphinate pesticides glyphosate, glufosinate, ethephon, fosetyl, and their various metabolites often showed limitations due to the existence of various matrix compounds in plant commodities with similar polarity. To overcome existing drawbacks, we utilized the unique selectivity provided by metal oxides as SPE materials. These were exploited in a novel automated online SPE-LC-MS/MS method which allowed analyte-specific trapping in the presence of excessive amounts of matrix compounds as typically contained in extracts of the Quick Polar Pesticides (QuPPe) method.

Herein, a novel S/N co-doped carbon-based nanozyme (S/N-Fe) with peroxidase-like properties was synthesized by doping thiourea into Fe MOF and introducing g-CN for pyrolysis. Generated by enzymatic cascade with acetylcholinesterase (AChE) involved, HO could react with S/N-Fe to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS). O-Phenylenediamine (OPD) could be catalyzed by ROS, resulting in the production of 2,3-diaminophenazine (DAP) with a fluorescent emission at 564 nm.

Environmental contaminants, such as pesticides, can inhibit the enzymatic activity of acetylcholinesterase (AChE), an enzyme necessary for neurotransmission. The inhibitory effects of structurally diverse pesticides on AChE may result from either reversible or covalent interactions. Therefore, assessing their potency typically requires different assay design to determine either dissociation constants or rate constants, respectively.
