Hepatocellular carcinoma is the most prevalent form of primary liver cancer, commonly associated with chronic liver conditions like hepatitis and alcohol abuse. Primary hepatic lymphoma (PHL), a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma originating in the liver, primarily affects men around the age of 50. Chronic hepatitis B and C are also recognized as risk factors for PHL.

Burkitt lymphoma (BL) is an aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma that rarely involves the appendix and may mimic acute appendicitis, complicating preoperative diagnosis. In the context of nonoperative management for appendicitis, such malignancies risk being overlooked. A 32-year-old immunocompetent male presented with right upper quadrant pain, leukocytosis, cholestatic liver profile, and a hepatic lesion on imaging.

Acute liver failure is a catastrophic condition characterized by the sudden and severe impairment of hepatic function. We report the case of a 36-year-old patient who presented with significant dehydration, generalized jaundice, evidence of hepatic encephalopathy, generalized edema with abdominal distension, and hepatosplenomegaly. A liver biopsy was performed, yielding the final diagnosis of primary large B-cell lymphoma.

Rationale: While secondary hepatic lymphoma can develop in up to 50% of patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and approximately 20% of those with Hodgkin disease, it is uncommon for patients to present with severe hepatic involvement, manifesting initially as jaundice and abdominal pain. These nonspecific symptoms can complicate diagnosis and subsequently delay the initiation of appropriate treatment.

Patient Concerns: A 68-year-old female presented to our hospital with complaints of abdominal pain and jaundice.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), the most prevalent non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), is characterized by rapid growth and an unfavorable prognosis. Artesunate (ART), a derivative of Artemisinin, is a widely recognized antimalarial drug that displays notable antitumor properties across diverse cancers. Our previous studies have demonstrated ART's capacity to inhibit DLBCL progression via the induction of ferroptosis.
