Purpose: The Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) is one of the most commonly used assessment tools for measuring psychotic symptoms. The Psychotic Symptom Rating Scales (PSYRATS) is another instrument created specifically to assess delusions and auditory hallucinations. However, research on the concurrent validity of PSYRATS with PANSS is limited. There are also inconsistent findings regarding the association between the PSYRATS scales and the PANSS positive scale. The present study aims to add to the understanding of the concurrent validity of these measures, while also incorporating a broader measure of psychiatric symptoms (the symptom scale from the Global Assessment of Functioning Scale - split version, GAF-S).
Materials And Methods: Spearman's Rank Order Correlations (rho) were calculated for scores from the PANSS positive scale, PSYRATS and GAF-S in a sample of 148 participants with psychotic disorders at three time points.
Results: The findings indicate concurrent validity between PSYRATS and PANSS, while the PSYRATS scales were not consistently correlated with GAF-S.
Conclusions: PSYRATS may be a valid assessment tool for evaluating psychotic symptoms. The utility of PSYRATS in research and clinical practice should be investigated further.

This rapid systematic review aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy (concurrent validity, predictive ability, reliability) of indirect calorimetry (IC) for measuring resting energy expenditure (REE) in adults with overweight or obesity. PubMed and Web of Science searched for studies measuring REE by IC in adults with overweight or obesity and reported primary outcomes: concurrent validity, predictive ability, or reliability. N = 22 studies were included that evaluated n = 10 IC devices.

RNA-protein interactions critically regulate gene expression and cellular processes, yet their comprehensive mapping remains challenging due to their structural diversity. We introduce PRIM-seq (protein-RNA interaction mapping by sequencing), a method for concurrent de novo identification of RNA-binding proteins and their associated RNAs. PRIM-seq generates unique chimeric DNA sequences by proximity ligation of RNAs with protein-linked DNA barcodes, which are subsequently decoded through sequencing.

Multiplex assays of variant effect (MAVEs) provide promising new sources of functional evidence, potentially empowering improved classification of germline genomic variants, particularly rare missense variants, which are commonly assigned as variants of uncertain significance (VUSs). However, paradoxically, quantification of clinically applicable evidence strengths for MAVEs requires construction of "truthsets" comprising missense variants already robustly classified as pathogenic and benign. In this study, we demonstrate how benign truthset size is the primary driver of applicable functional evidence toward pathogenicity (PS3).

Heart failure (HF) and lung cancer (LC) often coexist, yet their shared molecular mechanisms are unclear. We analyzed transcriptome data from the NCBI Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database (GSE141910, GSE57338) to identify 346 HF‑related differentially expressed genes (DEGs), then combined weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) pinpointed 70 hub candidates. Further screening of these 70 hub candidates in TCGA lung cancer cohorts via LASSO, Random Forest, and multivariate Cox regression suggested CYP4B1 as the only independent prognostic marker.

BackgroundWomen have a higher risk of dementia than men. Reproductive factors may be implicated.ObjectiveDetermine the association between reproductive factors (earlier menarche, later menopause, longer reproductive lifespan (RLS), post-menopausal hormone replacement therapy [pmHRT] use, and serum estradiol/estrone) and neurocognitive and neuroimaging markers of brain aging and incident dementia in cognitively healthy women.
