Article Abstract

For animals to locate resources and stay safe, navigation is an essential cognitive skill. Blind people use different navigational strategies to encode the environment. Path integration significantly influences spatial navigation, which is the ongoing update of position and orientation during self-motion. This study examines two separate things: (i) how guided and non-guided strategies affect blind individuals in encoding and mentally representing a trajectory and (ii) the sensory preferences for potential navigational aids through questionnaire-based research. This study first highlights the significant role that the absence of vision plays in understanding body centered and proprioceptive cues. Furthermore, it also underscores the urgent need to develop navigation-assistive technologies customized to meet the specific needs of users.

Over the past two decades, network medicine (NM) has evolved to help define disease mechanisms, identify drug targets, and guide increasingly precise therapies. In recent years, the integration of NM with artificial intelligence (AI), particularly deep learning techniques, has evolved with increasing applications. AI techniques help elucidate complex disease mechanisms and define precise therapies.

Requirement of Lysosomal Two-Pore Channels for Normal Fertilization and Artificial Oocyte Activation in Mice.

Front Biosci (Landmark Ed)

August 2025

Department of Integrated Applied Life Science, Integrated Graduate School of Medicine, Engineering, and Agricultural Sciences, University of Yamanashi, 400-8510 Yamanashi, Japan.

Background: Lysosomes serve not only in the degradation of cellular components but also as calcium (Ca) stores. In this study, we investigated the effects of trans-Ned19, an inhibitor of lysosomal calcium channels known to block two-pore channels (TPCs), on fertilization and oocyte activation in mice.

Methods: Pronuclear formation was assessed via Hoechst 33342 staining, cortical granule release was evaluated using agglutinin-fluorescein isothiocyanate (LCA-FITC) staining, intracellular Ca levels were monitored with Cal-520 AM, and sperm motility was analyzed using a sperm motility analysis system (SMAS).

Event-triggered dynamic landing control of cooperative USV-UAV plant with the compensation mechanism for rolling kinematics.

ISA Trans

August 2025

College of Automotive Engineering, Jilin University, No. 5988, Renmin Street, Nanguan District, Changchun City, Jilin Province 130000, China. Electronic address:

In this paper, an event-triggered fuzzy control algorithm is proposed for the unmanned surface vessel (USV) and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) cooperative plant to achieve the high-precision landing mission. In the guidance module, an L virtual ship-L virtual aerial vehicle (LVS-LVA) guidance principle is developed to generate the reasonable reference signals for the USV-UAV plant under the landing mission. The proposed guidance principle incorporates a rolling kinematic compensation mechanism based on the 4-degree-of-freedom model of USV, specifically designed to counteract wave-induced rolling disturbances during UAV landing operations on unstable marine platforms.

Forensic identification at fire scenes faces three core challenges: distinguishing cause of death (antemortem burning versus postmortem corpse burning), reconstructing criminal behavior (arson versus accident), and preserving evidence (thermal destruction versus artificial tampering). This case study systematically demonstrates the application value of burn trace characteristics in arson investigation through a typical intentional homicide and corpse burning case. Based on a three-dimensional analytical framework of human burn-behavioral characteristics, a systematic pathway incorporating reconstruction of arson/corpse burning processes and identification of body relocation behavior was established.
