Article Abstract

The precipitation-hardenable nickel-based superalloy Rene 41 exhibits remarkable mechanical characteristics and high corrosion resistance at high temperatures, properties that allow it to be used in high-end applications. This research paper presents findings on the influence of thermal shocks on its microstructure, hardness, and thermal diffusivity at temperatures between 700 and 1000 °C. Solar energy was used for cyclic thermal shock tests. The samples were characterized using microhardness measurements, optical microscopic analysis, scanning electron microscopy coupled with EDS elemental chemical analysis, X-ray diffraction, and flash thermal diffusivity measurements. Structural transformations and the variation of properties were observed with an increase in the number of shocks applied at the same temperature and with temperature variation for the same number of thermal shocks.

Strategic Timing of Gene Silencing: Cellular Kinetics-Based Administration of siRNA for Optimized Photothermal Cancer Treatment.

Heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) represents a critical barrier to effective mild-temperature photothermal therapy (MPTT), limiting its clinical utility in aggressive cancers like triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). While small interfering RNA (siRNA)-mediated HSP70 suppression offers a promising solution, optimal timing for this therapeutic combination remains unexplored. Here, it is demonstrated that precisely timed administration significantly enhances MPTT efficacy through systematic temporal characterization of HSP70 expression dynamics.

Functioning as molecular chaperones, heat shock proteins (HSPs) are rapidly upregulated under stress conditions, safeguarding cells against damage induced by heat, mechanical injury, and chemical agents. Despite their critical physiological roles, a comprehensive genome-wide characterization of HSP genes has been lacking for Sebastes schlegelii, a commercially important coastal benthic fish. In this study, we systematically identified the HSP gene family and analyzed its expression profiles.

As global climate change exacerbates extreme heat events, the interplay between heat stress and blast disease resistance in rice remains poorly understood. In this study, through integrated transcriptome profiling and systematic phenotyping of mutants in several thermosensory pathways, we identified HsfA1 as a positive regulator of heat priming-enhanced blast resistance in rice. Systematic analysis of microRNA (miRNA) dynamics, bioinformatics prediction, and RNA pull-down experiments revealed that , a temperature-responsive miRNA, directly suppresses the expression of by targeting the second exon of messenger RNA (mRNA).

The thermal decomposition of isopropanol was studied experimentally and theoretically with a view to isolate and directly measure rate coefficients for the dominant radical channel in this multi-channel process. Two complementary shock tube methods, laser schlieren densitomtery and H-atom atomic resonance absorption spectroscopy, were used to obtain rate coefficents for the C-C bond fission channel. The experimental ranges span temperatures from 1200-2100 K and pressures between 30-690 torr.

Aerospace engines and hypersonic vehicles, among other high-temperature components, often operate in environments characterized by temperatures exceeding 1000 °C and high-speed airflow impacts, resulting in severe thermal erosion conditions. Coaxial thermocouples (CTs), with their unique self-eroding characteristic, are particularly well suited for use in such extreme environments. However, fabricating high-temperature electrical insulation layers for coaxial thermocouples remains challenging.
