Based on Mader's mathematical model, the rate of capillary blood lactate concentration (νLa) following intense exercise is thought to reflect the maximal glycolytic rate. We aimed to investigate the reliability of important variables of Mader's model (i.e. power output, lactate accumulation, predominant phosphagen contribution time frames (t )) and resulting νLa values derived during and after a 15-s cycling sprint. Fifty cyclists performed a 15-s all-out sprint test on a Cyclus2 ergometer three times. The first sprint test was considered a familiarization trial. Capillary blood was sampled before and every minute (for 8 min) after the sprint to determine νLa. Test-retest analysis between T2 and T3 revealed excellent reliability for power output (P and P; ICC = 0.99, 0.99), ∆La and νLa with t of 3.5 s (ICC = 0.91, 0.91). νLa calculated with t = t (ICC = 0.87) and t = t (ICC = 0.79) revealed good reliability. t and t revealed only poor and moderate reliability (ICC = 0.41, 0.52). Power output and ∆La are reliable parameters in the context of this test. Depending on t, reliability of νLa varies considerably with t of 3.5 s showing excellent reliability. We recommend standardization of this type of testing especially t .

Neutral aqueous Zn-air batteries (ZABs), while promising for extended lifespans and recyclability compared to alkaline systems, are hindered by sluggish kinetics that limit energy efficiency and power output. Here, we report an effective approach to construct a photo-assisted near-neutral ZAB based on a photo-responsive titanium silicalite-1 zeolite (TS-1). The incorporation of Ru active centers into the 3D porous architecture of TS@C (Ru@TS@C), which exhibits remarkably enhanced electronic conduction, creates interconnected conductive pathways.

This article demonstrates maximum power point tracking (MPPT) using a DC-DC boost converter. It introduces an intelligent control technique with fuzzy-based pattern search (PS) optimization for the MPPT controller, enhancing energy conversion efficiency. The fuzzy-PS approach is further refined with PA optimization.

This study presents a novel photovoltaic triboelectric nanogenerator (PTENG) that operates on sliding contacts between n-type (gallium arsenide) GaAs and metal electrodes in the presence of periodic light illumination, which offers harvesting energy synergistically by integrating both photovoltaic and triboelectric effects to enhance the energy output. Using an in-house built test setup with provision of laser illumination, the open-circuit voltage () and short-circuit current () were measured for the n-GaAs semiconductors with different metal contacts (Al and Cu). Under both laser light (630 nm) and without laser light conditions, n-GaAs with aluminum contacts exhibited the highest and values, reaching up to 11.

Droplet electricity generators (DEGs) that generate electricity through the interplay between water and the dielectric materials have attracted growing research interest due to their remarkable output voltage. However, conventional DEG design faces a critical trade-off: regulating the properties of dielectric materials, such as thickness or permittivity, can enhance output voltage yet weaken transferred charge. Here, a fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP)/multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)/polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) composite-based droplet electricity generator (FMP-DEG) is presented to overcome the voltage-charge trade-off and thus achieve an enhanced energy conversion efficiency of 4.
