Relationships of Circulating Plasma Metabolites With the QT Interval in a Large Population Cohort.

Circ Genom Precis Med

September 2025

Clinical Pharmacology and Precision Medicine, William Harvey Research Institute, London, United Kingdom (W.J.Y., M.M.S., J.R., S.v.D., H.R.W., A.T., P.B.M.).

Background: There is a higher prevalence of heart rate corrected QT (QTc) prolongation in patients with diabetes and metabolic syndrome. QT interval genome-wide association studies have identified candidate genes for cardiac energy metabolism, and experimental studies suggest that polyunsaturated fatty acids have direct effects on ion channel function. Despite this, there has been limited study of metabolite concentration relationships with QT intervals.

To address the technical challenges associated with determining the chronological order of overlapping stamps and textual content in forensic document examination, this study proposes a novel non-destructive method that integrates hyperspectral imaging (HSI) with convolutional neural networks (CNNs). A multi-type cross-sequence dataset was constructed, comprising 60 samples of handwriting-stamp sequences and 20 samples of printed text-stamp sequences, all subjected to six months of natural aging. Spectral responses were collected across the 400-1000 nm range in the overlapping regions.

Fanconi Anemia (FA) is a heritable syndrome characterized by DNA damage repair deficits, frequent malformations and a significantly elevated risk of bone marrow failure, leukemia, and mucosal head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCC). Hematopoietic stem cell gene therapy can prevent marrow failure and lower leukemia risk, but mucosal gene therapy to lower HNSCC risk remains untested. Major knowledge gaps include an incomplete understanding of how rapidly gene-corrected cellular lineages could spread through the oral epithelium, and which delivery parameters are critical for ensuring efficient gene correction.
