The neighbourhood of plants in a patch can shape vulnerability of focal plants to herbivores, known as an associational effect. Associational effects of plant neighbourhoods are widely recognised. But whether a single neighbouring plant can exert an associational effect is unknown.

Plants rely on gamete dispersal to ensure the inheritance of their genes. Gene flow, mediated by pollen and seed dispersal, also fosters species' cohesion across space, facilitates population migration, and influences local adaptation. is an ecologically important wind-dispersed tree species of the Patagonian Andes.

Forests are complex systems in which subtle variations in terrain can reveal much about plant community structure and interspecific interactions. Despite a wealth of studies focusing on broad-scale environmental gradients, the role of fine-scale topographic nuances often remains underappreciated, particularly in subtropical settings. In our study, we explore how minute differences in microtopography-encompassing local elevation, slope, aspect, terrain position index (TPI), terrain ruggedness index (TRI), and flow direction-affect neighborhood-scale interactions among plants.

Groundwater-surface water interaction (hyporheic exchange) is critical in numerous hydrogeochemical processes; however, hyporheic exchange is difficult to characterize due to the various spatial (e.g., sedimentary architecture) and temporal (e.

Local adaptation represents the balance of selection and gene flow. Increasingly, studies find that adaptation can occur on spatial scales much smaller than the scale of dispersal, resulting in balanced polymorphisms within populations. However, microgeographic adaptation might be facilitated or hindered by large-scale environmental heterogeneity, such as across latitude.
