Microorganisms are important sources of lipolytic enzymes with characteristics for wide promising usages in the specific industrial biotechnology. The cellulolytic myxobacterium is rich of lipolytic enzymes in the genome, but little has been investigated. Here, we discerned 406 potential lipolytic enzymes in 13 sequenced genomes. These lipolytic enzymes belonged to 12 families, and most are novel with low identities (14-37%) to those reported. We characterized a new carboxylesterase, LipB, from the alkaline-adaptive So0157-2. This enzyme, belonging to family VIII, hydrolyzed glyceryl tributyrate and -nitrophenyl esters with short chain fatty acids (≤C12), and exhibited the highest activity against -nitrophenyl butyrate. It retained over 50% of the activities in a broad temperature range (from 20°C to 60°C), alkaline conditions (pH 8.0-9.5), and the enzymatic activity was stable with methanol, ethanol and isopropanol, and stimulated significantly in the presence of 5 mM Ni. LipB also exhibited -lactamase activity on nitrocefin, but not ampicillin, cefotaxime and imipenem. The bioinformatic analysis and specific enzymatic characteristics indicate that is a promising resource to explore lipolytic enzymes for industrial adaptations.

A recent study of our group quantifying C-octanoate metabolism in HA (Capanna Margherita [MG]/4,559 m) showed that acute HA exposure might lead to an increase of the lipolytic and CO-producing pathways. To further test this hypothesis, we investigated intestinal biopsies from the same participants from simultaneously performed endoscopy studies for changes of mRNA-expression levels of the beta-oxidation enzymes and the decarboxylating tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA) enzymes. Duodenal biopsies of 16 subjects exposed to HA were sampled via gastro-duodenoscopy at Zurich (baseline ZH, 490 m), on day 2 (MG2) and on day 4 at HA (MG4).

Background: Excessive fat deposition in localized adiposity is known to induce severe medical diseases as well as aesthetic problems. Of late, LIPOSA-T pharmacopuncture, a new herbal pharmacopuncture consisting of the cortex of and bark of , is developed as a non-surgical injection for dissolving localized fat deposits.
Methods: The network pharmacology analysis was carried out with the target gene sets of constituents of and .

: Enzymes secreted by the digestive glands are excreted from the body with urine, sweat and feces, and they are also removed from the blood due to their participation in the enzymatic provision of the secretion entering the gastrointestinal tract. : The aim of this work was to analyze the activity of pepsinogen, amylase and lipase in the coprofiltrate of pregnant women in each trimester of pregnancy and in the postpartum period, taking into account the timing and type of delivery (term, premature, late delivery or cesarean section). : Data from studies of non-pregnant (n = 45) and pregnant (n = 193) women were analyzed.

Cheese, a nutrient-dense protein-lipid matrix, poses digestion challenges in the elderly populations due to age-related physiological decline. Using a dynamic in vitro gastrointestinal model, this study evaluated the synergistic effects of Protease-DS (P-DS) and Lipase-AP12 (L-AP) supplementation on cheese proteolysis/lipolysis kinetics in elderly conditions. P-DS selectively disrupted protein networks, while L-AP enhanced oil droplet hydrolysis, and their combination synergistically accelerated cheese matrix degradation.

Six strains of coagulase-negative staphylococci, isolated from fermented meat products and identified as Staphylococcus hominis 9, Staphylococcus saprophyticus 18, Staphylococcus saprophyticus 27, Staphylococcus xylosus 37, Staphylococcus saprophyticus 120, and Staphylococcus cohnii 129, were evaluated for their lipid hydrolase and antioxidant enzyme activities. The effects of the selected strains on lipid hydrolysis and oxidation in fermented sausages were subsequently investigated. In meat simulation medium, Staphylococcus cohnii 129 exhibited the highest lipase and superoxide dismutase activities among all tested strains.
