We report on importance of conducting comprehensive studies of atmospheric aerosol particles, which cannot be done if information from various complementary sensors is unavailable. We present an example for such application and recommend on the types of sensors that should be used in view of the ACTRIS and RI-URBANS new strategies for monitoring at supersites. Although active and passive remote sensing data was not available in continuous mode, we show that synergic use of them with in-situ observations allows for comprehensive study of temporal and height-resolved distribution of aerosol in the lower troposphere and it can be successfully combined to assess biomass burning impact on air quality and optical properties. The analysed period was divided into three episodes based on the measured black carbon (BC) concentration and the prevailing wind direction. The dominant 72-h backward trajectories were ending in western Europe, mid-Atlantic and western Russia, respectively, The in-situ measured mass concentrations of BCtotal and BC apportioned to biomass burning as well as particulate matter (PM) concentrations in accumulation mode were twice higher during the first and last episodes compared to the second episode, representing long-range transport from different source regions. The obtained complementary surface, column-integrated, and layer-derived size distributions and other parameters demonstrate the added value of multisensor analyses.

This study utilized the synergistic effectiveness of chia seed mucilage and iron (III)-natural phenolic nanoparticles as biosorbents for the first time in the dispersive solid-phase extraction (DSPE) of oxytetracycline, tetracycline, chlortetracycline, and doxycycline followed by HPLC-UV quantification. An in-situ iron (III)-natural phenolic solid adsorbent was created using natural phenolics found in the copper pod tree bark. An ultrasonic-assisted extraction was performed to enhance the extraction efficiency of DSPE-based biosorbents.

Large-scale anaerobic treatment involves a high risk of antibiotic pollution in anaerobically digested (AD) biosolids, which hinders the efficient utilization of farmland AD biosolids. Herein, a process for the in situ removal of antibiotics from AD biosolids using ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt dihydrate as the release agent synergized with sodium persulfate oxidation is reported. The developed process was used to remove antibiotics from actual AD biosolids.

Although the efficiency of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) keeps breaking new records, their stability and cost are still limited by using the conventional hole transport material of 2,2',7,7'-tetrakis(,-di--methoxyphenylamine)-9,9'-spirobifluorene (Spiro-OMeTAD). Herein, we use 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) as a solubilizer to enhance the dissolution of lithium bis(trifluoromethane)sulfonylimide (Li-TFSI) and reduce the 4--bultypyridine (TBP) dosage. Then, EDOT undergoes in situ oxidative polymerization to generate PEDOT by an oxidizing agent of iodine (I).

Essential amino acid (EAA) supplementation is often employed in sportive and clinical nutrition due to EAAs' role in muscle mass maintenance and growth. EAAs are also involved in insulin and glucagone regulation in diabetes management, but only few reports investigate their possible implication as dipeptidyl peptidase-IV (DPP-IV) inhibitors and their effect on the stability and secretion of enteroendocrine hormones. A blend of EAAs (called GAF) available as a food supplement, in a specific qualitative and quantitative ratio, was investigated to address its in vitro bioaccessibility, its hypoglycemic properties in vitro and in situ on cellular models, and its safety on intestinal Caco-2 cells.
