This report describes the case of a 76-year-old man with ulcerative colitis who developed interstitial nephritis after starting 5-Aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA) therapy. The patient experienced an initial improvement in symptoms, but developed fatigue, anorexia, and severe renal dysfunction 2.5 months later. Renal biopsy confirmed drug-induced interstitial nephritis, and conservative treatment with fluid replacement and the discontinuation of 5-ASA improved the patient's condition. Clinicians should monitor patients receiving 5-ASA therapy for potential adverse effects, particularly renal injury, and promptly investigate symptoms of renal dysfunction. Early recognition and discontinuation of the offending agent may prevent further damage and improve patient outcomes.

Microsporidia are emerging opportunistic pathogens in immunosuppressed individuals, including solid organ transplant recipients. We present a case of tubulointerstitial nephritis (TIN) caused by Microsporidia infection in a 55-year-old male who underwent combined liver-kidney transplantation (CLKT) for metabolic-associated fatty liver disease and end-stage kidney disease. The patient developed diarrhoea, abdominal bloating and acute kidney injury (AKI) 1 month post-transplant.

Coyotes (Canis latrans) can serve as hosts for many pathogens of concern and may be useful for monitoring the prevalence and emergence of these pathogens. We collected serum and/or whole blood antemortem from 43 coyotes from South Carolina, US, and collected samples from opportunistically collected carcasses from 71 Tennessee, US and 15 South Carolina, US coyotes. We tested samples with SNAP 4Dx PLUS rapid ELISA tests for Ehrlichia spp.

Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is characterized by diffuse renal cysts that secrete cytokines, which induce interstitial inflammation and fibrosis. Meanwhile, acute tubulointerstitial nephritis (ATIN) is characterized by inflammatory infiltrates in the interstitium, where kidney biopsy remains the mainstay for diagnosis. An 85-year-old male complained of fatigue, loss of appetite, and low-grade fever for a week.

Sodium-glucose-cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) and statins are increasingly used for reduction of cardiovascular mortality in type 2 diabetics. Few case studies reported an enhanced risk of rhabdomyolysis with this combination. A 57-year-old man with normal renal functions, developed fatigue and oliguria within three days of dapagliflozin addition to his preexistent rosuvastatin therapy.
