Pu-erh tea is recognized for its weight loss effects, but its potential association with gut microbiota and metabolites remains unclear. This research explored the alterations in gut flora and metabolite composition upon treatment with a co-fermented Pu-erh tea with an aqueous corn silk extract (CPC) in obese mice by employing integrated 16S ribosomal RNA gene sequencing and untargeted metabolomics processes. For 8 weeks, mice were fed control, high-fat, and high-fat diets which included a 46 mg/mL CPC extract. The CPC extract the alleviated high-fat diet (HFD), it stimulated systemic chronic inflammation, and it reduced the body weight, daily energy consumption, and adipose tissue weight of the mice. It also modified the gut microbiota composition and modulated the , , , , and . Fecal metabolomics analysis revealed that the CPC extract influenced the caffeine, cysteine, methionine, tryptophan, biotin metabolism pathways, primary bile acid, and steroid biosynthesis. This research revealed that the CPC extract could inhibit HFD-stimulated abnormal weight gain and adipose tissue accumulation in mice, and modulate mice gut microbiota composition and multiple metabolic pathways.

The deployment of hyperspectral satellite missions has opened new opportunities for integrated approaches to address the escalating issue of cyanobacterial algal blooms in marine and inland waters. Despite these advancements, the validation of satellite data concerning C-phycocyanin (C-PC) content requires robust analytical methods. Currently, the available techniques, predominantly spectrophotometric or fluorometric, exhibit low reproducibility due to the interference of chlorophyll a and perform optimally with water samples.

Edible insects, such as the domestic cricket (Acheta domesticus L.), are gaining attention as sustainable, nutrient-dense sources of alternative protein. This study examines the effects of defatting pre-treatments-supercritical CO₂ (SD) and petroleum ether (PD)-in combination with different extraction methods, including micellization (ME), deep eutectic solvent (DE), and conventional alkaline-isoelectric precipitation (CE), on the structural, physicochemical, and techno-functional properties of cricket protein concentrates (CPCs).

Pulsed Electric Fields (PEF) technique has emerged as a promising approach to extract molecules of interest from different biological material. The present study aimed at optimizing the extraction of C-phycocyanin (C-PC) and other water-soluble biomolecules from Arthrospira platensis cyanobacterium by adjusting PEF process parameters. At a field strength of 5 kV/cm, specific energies comprised between 2.

Phycobiliproteins (PBPs) are one of the prominent pigments produced by Cyanobacteria, and phycocyanin (PC) is a major pigment. Rhodophytes, cryptophytes, and cyanobacteria all contain the blue pigment CPC, which has antioxidative and fluorescent qualities. The PC production is mainly done through open ponds, which increases the risk of contamination.

Gastric cancer (GC) is the third leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. Many traditional treatments for this type of cancer, including chemotherapy and surgery, have significant side effects that limit their effectiveness. Therefore, developing new therapeutic agents with fewer side effects and higher efficacy is crucial.
