Electrocardiogram (ECG) devices are commonly used to monitor heart rate (HR) and heart rate variability (HRV), but their signal quality under non-upright or torso-dominant activities may suffer due to motion artifact and interference from surrounding musculature. We compared ECG signal quality during treadmill walking, circuit training, and an obstacle course using three chest-worn commercial devices (Polar H10, Equivital EQ-02, and Zephyr BioHarness 3.0) and a multi-lead ECG monitor (BIOPAC).

Direct fetal electrocardiogram (FECG) plays a crucial role in assessing fetal health and monitoring pregnancy conditions. Extracting high-quality FECG signals from maternal abdominal electrocardiogram (AECG) recordings remains a significant challenge due to the low amplitude of the FECG, its overlap with the maternal electrocardiogram (MECG), and the potential exposure to impulsive noise in the real world. Adaptive filtering (AF) is an essential method for FECG extraction, however, its performance tends to degrade in the presence of impulsive noise, such as instrument interference.

Background: Ketogenic diet (KD) is a well-tolerated and efficacious therapy for refractory epilepsy (RE). While numerous mild short-term side effects have been reported, long-term cardiometabolic and bone heath consequences of KD need more advanced work-up and were not fully evaluated especially in children. So, we aimed to evaluate cardiac, vascular, metabolic, bone health and growth consequences in children with RE receiving KD for more than 2 years compared to those receiving antiepileptic drugs (AEDs ) without any dietary interference.

Objectives: Cardiac troponins (cTn) are used to detect and quantify acute cardiomyocyte injury. In patients presenting with symptoms that could indicate myocarditis, elevated cTn concentrations typically mandate cardiac catheterization and heart muscle biopsy or cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR). Accordingly, increased cTn levels due to macrotroponin - a complex between patient anti-troponin autoantibodies and cTn - could lead to unnecessary and potentially harmful interventions.

Electrocardiograms (ECGs) contain valuable information in the clinical diagnosis of myocardial infarction (MI). However, its interpretation process is dependent on cardiologists with extensive clinical experience and expertise. The issue not only causes a paucity of medical resources, but also restricts patients from receiving timely diagnoses.
