Objective: Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) is a therapeutic option for diseases such as epilepsy and depression. Given that the smooth muscle of the bronchi is innervated by the vagus nerve, VNS could aid in treating pathologies of the respiratory system involving a bronchoconstrictive component. The aim of this review is to evaluate the literature on the potential for VNS to relieve airway bronchoconstriction in asthma.

Tolerance after lung transplantation is associated with the induction of Foxp3 regulatory T cell-enriched bronchus-associated lymphoid tissue, which suppresses local and systemic alloimmune responses. How this tolerogenic graft environment shapes responses to respiratory viral infections, a known contributor to adverse outcomes after lung transplantation, remains unknown. Using a mouse model of a seasonally circulating parainfluenza virus, we found that acute infection of tolerant lung allografts results in temporary reductions of both bronchus-associated lymphoid tissue size and abundance of graft-resident Foxp3 cells, but doesn't trigger rejection.

Introduction And Importance: Crystal-storing histiocytosis (CSH) is a rare, non-neoplastic histiocytic proliferation that often complicates underlying lymphoproliferative or plasma cell disorders. The respiratory system is uncommonly involved in CSH. We present a local case of pulmonary CSH associated with marginal zone lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT), along with eight additional cases identified from a literature review.

Unilateral agenesis of the lung (UAL) is a rare congenital anomaly resulting from the failed development of the lung bud between weeks three and seven of gestation. It is frequently associated with anomalies involving the cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and skeletal systems. We describe a full-term male neonate who presented with severe respiratory distress and was found to have complete agenesis of the left lung, bronchus, and pulmonary artery and vein.

Background: The incidence and fatality rates of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are increasing, and the acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD) causes poor prognosis in patients.
Aim: This study evaluated the clinical role of serum lncRNA IGF2-AS in stable COPD and AECOPD and explored its functional mechanism in bronchial epithelial cells.
Methods: Blood samples were obtained from COPD patients and controls.
