Background: Amino acid metabolism (AAM) is related to tumor growth, prognosis, and therapeutic response. Tumor cells use more amino acids with less synthetic energy than normal cells for rapid proliferation. However, the possible significance of AAM-related genes in the tumor microenvironment (TME) is poorly understood.
Methods: Gastric cancer (GC) patients were classified into molecular subtypes by consensus clustering analysis using AAMs genes. AAM pattern, transcriptional patterns, prognosis, and TME in distinct molecular subtypes were systematically investigated. AAM gene score was built by least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (Lasso) regression.
Results: The study revealed that copy number variation (CNV) changes were prevalent in selected AAM-related genes, and most of these genes exhibited a high frequency of CNV deletion. Three molecular subtypes (clusters A, B, and C) were developed based on 99 AAM genes, which cluster B had better prognosis outcome. We developed a scoring system (AAM score) based on 4 AAM gene expressions to measure the AAM patterns of each patient. Importantly, we constructed a survival probability prediction nomogram. The AAM score was substantially associated with the index of cancer stem cells and sensitivity to chemotherapy intervention.
Conclusion: Overall, we detected prognostic AAM features in GC patients, which may help define TME characteristics and explore more effective treatment approaches.

Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is the most prevalent form of thyroid cancer with a high incidence among endocrine malignancies. It tends to metastasize early in lymph nodes and differs markedly from other subtypes in biological behavior, clinical management, and prognosis. The chick embryo ventricular cardiomyocyte model provides students easy access to experiments involving fundamental features of cardiac cell physiology and pharmacology. Using standard physiology teaching laboratories and basic cell culture equipment, spontaneously beating colonies of electrically-connected cardiomyocytes can be obtained by the students themselves. Students learn, aseptic techniques and cell culture alongside experiments illustrating, at the simplest level of experimentation, how beating rate can be altered physiologically or pharmacologically.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) produced by stem cells are nanoscale carriers of bioactive compounds with regenerative and immunomodulatory capabilities similar to those of their parent cells. Their therapeutic potential outperforms traditional stem cell therapies by lowering hazards such tumorigenicity and allowing for precise delivery. To provide a high-efficiency platform for selectively isolating stem cell EVs from minimal serum quantities while overcoming the constraints of traditional approaches such as ultracentrifugation, we developed an immunoaffinity-based capture system utilizing SiO₂ wafers functionalized with gold nanoparticles (GNPs), polyethylene glycol (HS-PEG-COOH), and stem cell-specific antibodies.

Drug-induced hepatotoxicity (DIH), characterized by diverse phenotypes and complex mechanisms, remains a critical challenge in drug discovery. To systematically decode this diversity and complexity, we propose a multi-dimensional computational framework integrating molecular structure analysis with disease pathogenesis exploration, focusing on drug-induced intrahepatic cholestasis (DIIC) as a representative DIH subtype.
