Ladakh is a hilly Himalayan dry desert, situated at an altitude of >11,000 feet. Studies have demonstrated that the spirometric values of high-altitude residents are significantly higher than those of low landers. This is a retrospective observational study that analyzes the spirometry pattern in chronic lung diseases among people from Ladakh.

Background: Different biologics available as add-on treatment for severe asthma (SA) showed modest benefits on lung function parameters but head-to-head comparisons are lacking.
Objective: This study aims to compare the effects of four biologics on lung function parameters (including small airways) at 6 and 12 months of treatment in patients with SA.
Methods: An observational multicenter study was conducted on adults patients with SA naïve to biologics treated by benralizumab, dupilumab, mepolizumab and omalizumab with lung function assessment by spirometry and gas dilution method at baseline (T0), after 6 (T6) and 12 months (T12) of treatment.

Idiopathic interstitial pneumonias (IIPs) are widespread interstitial lung diseases with no known cause. The diseases are characterized by a steady decline in lung function. To assess the patterns of IIPs and investigate the correlation between the extents of lung involvement on high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) with spirometric findings in Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital (TASH) chest clinic, covering the period from February 2020 to February 2023.

Background: Although the benefits of biologics in severe asthma are well established, the optimal strategy to discontinue therapy remains controversial.
Aim: to evaluate clinical, functional, and laboratory course of children and adolescents with severe asthma after biological therapy withdrawal due to sustained good control. Secondary aim was to identify clinical or inflammatory markers predictive of asthma control after discontinuation.

Unlabelled: Obesity is a pervasive global health issue frequently associated with metabolic syndrome (MetS). Limited data exist regarding the impact of MetS and its individual components on pulmonary function in obese pediatric populations. This study investigated the relationship between MetS and lung function, and further identified specific MetS components that adversely affect pulmonary outcomes.
