Background: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder lacking objective biomarkers for early diagnosis. DNA methylation is a promising epigenetic marker, and machine learning offers a data-driven classification approach. However, few studies have examined whole-blood, genome-wide DNA methylation profiles for ASD diagnosis in school-aged children.

Language is central to the cognitive and sociocultural traits that distinguish humans, yet the evolutionary emergence of this capacity is far from fully understood. This review explores how the study of the brains of language-trained apes (LTAs) offers a unique and valuable opportunity to tease apart the relative contribution of evolved species differences, behavior, and environment in the emergence of complex communication abilities. For example, when raised in sociolinguistically rich and interactive environments, LTAs show communicative competencies that parallel aspects of early human language acquisition and exhibit altered neuroanatomy, including increased connectivity and laterization in regions associated with language.

The coffee roasting process is a critical factor in determining the final quality of the beverage, influencing its flavour, aroma, and acidity. Traditionally, roast-level classification has relied on manual inspection, which is time-consuming, subjective, and prone to inconsistencies. However, advancements in machine learning (ML) and computer vision, particularly convolutional neural networks (CNNs), have shown great promise in automating and improving the accuracy of this process.

To understand complex societal transformations, scholars have called for more interdisciplinary research in which researchers from various disciplines collaborate. To support the implementation of such collaborations, we introduce a novel typology of interdisciplinary collaborations developed from the literature and from structured reflection on our own research experience. The typology distinguishes (I) common base, (II) common destination, and (III) sequential link type of interdisciplinary collaborations.
