Article Abstract

var. is a traditional herbal medicine in China. In this study, the anti-inflammatory activities of active ingredients of var. were investigated in RAW 264.7 cells and Freund's complete adjuvant-induced arthritic rats. Results showed that -butanol extract exerted antiarthritic potential by reducing paw edema, arthritis score, and altered hematological and biochemical parameters in experimental rats. Phytochemical studies on -butanol extract resulted in the isolation of five alkaloids (1-5) and five phenylethanoids (6-10). The anti-inflammatory assay of compounds 1-10 on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated RAW 264.7 cells indicated that phenylethanoids 9 and 10 exhibited notable inhibitory activities. The result indicated that compounds 9 and 10 attenuated inflammation by decreasing the production of nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) p65, inhibitory subunit of NF kappa B alpha, Janus kinase 2 (JAK2), signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3), and inducible nitric oxide synthase in LPS-mediated RAW 264.7 macrophages. Phenylethanoids 9 and 10 increased the expression of interleukin-10 and endothelial nitric oxide synthase. Therefore, compounds 9 and 10 showed anti-inflammatory activity by regulation of NF-B and JAK/STAT signaling pathways.

: Identifying dietary factors influencing liver cancer is crucial for developing preventive measures. While tea polyphenols have demonstrated cancer-preventive activities in animal models, the evidence in humans is not definitive. This study aims to explore the association between tea consumption and liver cancer, as well as the interaction between tea drinking and other risk factors, in China, a country with a high incidence of liver cancer and substantial tea consumption.

Periodontal disease (PD) is a significant global health concern, affecting approximately 19% of the world's population. It is one of the most prevalent diseases today, causing substantial socio-economic impacts and diminished quality of life. Recent research has also revealed a potential link between PD and Alzheimer's disease.

Background: Various cancer immunotherapies rely on the T cell-mediated recognition of peptide antigens presented on human leukocyte antigens (HLA). However, the identification and selection of naturally presented peptide targets for the development of personalized as well as off-the-shelf immunotherapy approaches remain challenging.

Methods: Over 10,000 raw mass spectrometry (MS) files from over 3,000 tissue samples were analyzed, summing to approximately seven terabytes of data.

Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are a public health problem that affects around 12% of the global population. The treatment is based on analgesics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, corticosteroids, anticonvulsants, or arthrocentesis associated with hyaluronic acid-based viscosupplementation. However, the use of hyaluronic acid alone in viscosupplementation does not seem to be enough to regulate the intra-articular inflammatory process.
