In this paper, TiCT MXene prepared by LiF/HCl etching method was spin-coated on glass substrate and sapphire substrate as the saturable absorber (SA), and the MXene SA is combined with Yb: LuAG single crystal fiber (SCF) for the first time to achieve a 1.05 µm passively Q-switched pulsed laser output with the average power, pulse width, and repetition frequency of 1.989 W, 149.6 ns, and 365.44 kHz, respectively, which is the highest average power ever reported for passively Q-switched SCF pulsed lasers. This work enriches the research on SCF pulsed lasers and provides a feasible approach for achieving high-power all-solid-state pulsed lasers.

The temperature-dependent second threshold criteria for the Nd:YVO/Cr:YAG passively Q-switched (PQS) laser is explored. The emission cross section of the Nd:YVO crystal is found to decrease as temperature elevates, which is feasible to reach the PQS second threshold with a flexible cavity design. We derive theoretical analysis and experimentally verify it by demonstrating the cavity mode size ratio variation between those on the gain medium and the saturable absorber.

The - nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized using a sol-gel autocombustion mechanism, and its thin film was prepared in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) via the solution casting method. The crystallographic structure, surface morphology, and particle size of - NPs were characterized using the X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

In this work, two-dimensional (2D) PdX (X = S, Se) nanosheets were successfully fabricated via the ultrasound-assisted liquid-phase exfoliation (LPE) method and characterized comprehensively. Employing open-aperture (OA) Z/I-scan techniques, the nonlinear absorption (NLA) properties of the samples in the mid-infrared (MIR) region were systematically investigated, which revealed that PdX (X = S, Se) nanosheets exhibited excellent saturable absorption characteristics at 3 μm. The large effective NLA coefficient, high modulation depth, and low saturation intensity highlight their potential as high-performance saturable absorbers (SAs).

Nonlinear optical (NLO) materials play indispensable roles in various fields, such as information, energy, and biology. However, the ideal NLO materials necessitate a balance between the band gap and the nonlinear coefficient, which severely restricts the further development of nonlinear optics. BiOX (X═Cl, Br, and I) crystals, with their layered structure, combine the advantages of nontoxicity, a tunable band gap, and remarkable optoelectronic properties, rendering them highly promising NLO materials.
