Herein, an efficient method to prepare sulfonated polyether ether ketone (SPEEK) based cation exchange membranes (CEMs) is developed, where polyethersulfone (PES) is used as an additive. The optimized membrane of 30 wt.%PES/SPEEK-M exhibits a rather low anion permeability and a high ionic conductivity of 9.52 mS cm together with low volume swelling in water. Meanwhile, tensile strength of the membrane is as high as 31.4 MPa with a tensile strain of 162%. As separators for aqueous K-ion batteries (AKIBs) with decoupled gel electrolytes (Zn anode in alkaline and Prussian blue (FeHCF) cathode in neutral). Discharge voltage of the AKIB can reach 2.3 V. Meanwhile, Zn dendrites can be effectively suppressed in the gel anolyte. Specific capacities of the FeHCF cathode are 116.7 mAh g at 0.3 A g (close to its theoretical value), and 95.0 mAh g at 1.0 A g , indicating good rate performance. Capacity retention of the cathode is as high as 91.2% after 1000 cycles' cycling owing to the well remained neutral environment of the catholyte. There is almost no pH change for the catholyte after cycling, indicating good anion-blocking or cation-selecting ability of the 30 wt.%PES/SPEEK-M, much better than other membranes.

Strong intermolecular interactions facilitate the formation of efficient ion transport channels, which, in turn, significantly boost the performance of anion exchange membranes (AEMs). Herein, 9-anthracene methanol with both π-π stacking and hydrogen bonding intermolecular forces is used as a bifunctional unit to synthesize high-performance AEMs through the Friedel-Crafts superacid catalytic reaction for the first time. The π-π stacking in the bifunctional units can induce hydrophilic pyridine cations to aggregate, and the hydrogen bonding can provide transport sites for OH and water molecules in the hydrophobic component.

Biochar has emerged as a promising soil amendment for improving soil quality and mitigating environmental impacts, such as nutrient leaching. This study evaluated the impacts of ball-milled bamboo nano-biochar on water infiltration dynamics, retention capacity, and nitrogen‑phosphorus leaching in sandy loam soil using controlled column experiments and leaching experiments with five application doses alongside bulk biochar and untreated controls. Experimental results demonstrated that nano-biochar application significantly enhanced soil water retention capacity compared to the raw soil.

The CO cycloaddition route is an effective way to achieve efficient conversion and utilization of CO. Zeolites with diverse topologies and tunable acidic sites can efficiently promote the cycloaddition reaction of CO with epoxides. The exchangeable cations in zeolites have a great influence on the performance of the CO cycloaddition, but there are few studies on it.

This study focuses on mineral groundwater in alpine regions and its sustainable exploitation. The Tongde basin on Tibetan Plateau was investigated to reveal the hydrochemistry and formation of mineral groundwater in alpine basins and its sustainable development under anthropogenic disturbances. The results show that groundwater there is characterized by enriched strontium, with concentrations in the range of 0.

The surfaces of 1D layered lepidocrocite-structured titanates (1DLs) are negatively charged due to an oxygen-to-titanium atomic ratio >2. This, and their layered structure, allow for facile ion exchange and high colloidal stability, demonstrated by ζ-potentials of ≈ -85 mV at their unadjusted pH of ≈10.4.
