Substrate-induced biaxial compressive stress and threading dislocations (TDs) have been recognized to severely impair the performance, stability, and reliability of InGaN/GaN light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for quite some time. In this study, a defect-selective-etched (DSE) porous GaN layer is fabricated employing electro-chemical etching and applied as a buffer layer for the development of InGaN/GaN LEDs with high quantum efficiency. Based on the analysis of photoluminescence and micro-Raman spectra, it has been revealed that the overgrown GaN epilayer on the DSE porous GaN has a relatively low TDs and relaxation of compressive stress in comparison to the conventional GaN epilayer. The remarkable improvement in the internal quantum efficiency of the InGaN/GaN LEDs is directly attributable to the strong radiative recombination in InGaN/GaN multi-quantum-wells caused by stress relaxation and TDs annihilation. Our findings indicate that the use of DSE porous GaN as a buffer layer may be a viable approach for producing crystalline GaN epilayers and high-performance LEDs.

The pervasive accumulation of tetracycline (TC) in aquatic ecosystems poses severe ecological and health threats, yet conventional technologies rarely achieve reliable removal under continuous-flow conditions. To overcome the intrinsic brittleness, aggregation and leaching of powdered ZIF-67, this study developed novel alginate-encapsulated MOF composite gel spheres (ALG/ZIF-67) via in-situ crystallization. This simple strategy generates hierarchical pores, anchors Co-N active sites and imparts mechanical robustness without sacrificing adsorption kinetics.

The pore-space-partition (PSP) strategy, which subdivides large pores into smaller segments, has proven highly effective in flexible acs-type frameworks. However, extending this approach to rigid structures has remained a formidable challenge due to the strict size and symmetry constraints required for partitioning ligands. In this study, it is successfully overcome these limitations and, for the first time, apply the PSP strategy to rigid acs frameworks.

Microspheres have emerged as a pivotal platform for micron-scale drug delivery, yet their utility has been greatly hindered by limitations in biodegradability, drug loading efficiency, and release kinetics, underscoring the urgent need for a next-generation microsphere platform that integrates high performance, scalability, and multifunctionality. Leveraging host-guest recognition, a series of macrocycle-incorporated polymers is synthesized and engineered a new class of supramolecular microspheres, which feature precisely tunable components, including host molecules, guest cargoes, and polymer components, as well as customizable morphologies, while enabling cost-effective, large-scale production. Following systematic validation of the host-guest recognition between β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) and lanreotide, we developed supramolecular microspheres (LAN@S-CPMs) that achieve a drug loading capacity and release duration approximately twice that of conventional microspheres, effectively curbing the disease progression of acromegaly.

Electrochemical etching (ECE) has become an essential approach for nanostructuring III-nitride semiconductors, offering precise, scalable control over their physical and functional characteristics. Through ECE, bulk materials such as GaN, InN, and InGaN can be engineered into zero-dimensional nanoparticles, one-dimensional nanowires, and two-dimensional porous frameworks. These nanostructures exhibit enhanced optoelectronic behavior, superior charge transport, and increased surface area properties that make them highly effective at photodetection and gas sensing.

Nanocatalysts show high photocatalytic activity in overall water splitting (OWS) due to their abundant active sites and short charge diffusion paths. However, they are prone to agglomerate, especially in slurry reactors, leading to complex recovery processes. Moreover, powder photocatalytic water splitting systems relying on solid-liquid-gas three-phase reactions are inherently limited by challenges including continuous water supply and blockage of active sites by adhering H/O gas bubbles.
