Article Abstract

A 35-year-old male presented with fatigue for 1 month and was found to have megaloblastic anaemia. Further evaluation showed low globulin levels and pan hypogammaglobulinemia. Past history was significant for chronic small bowel diarrhoea and bilateral genu valgum deformity from childhood. Hence, a malabsorption syndrome with a probable antibody deficiency was suspected. An upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy was done, which revealed chronic atrophic gastritis with infection, dysplasia and subtotal villous atrophy with a paucity of plasma cells, which was suggestive of common variable immunodeficiency (CVID)-related enteropathy. CVID can present with predominantly autoimmune GI manifestations without any history of recurrent infections. The risk of gastric dysplasia and malignancy is high in CVID and needs close monitoring.

Background And Objectives: Explore whether community social capital measures (system of resources available to individuals through community engagement) are related to surgical outcomes among intracranial tumor patients.

Methods: Adults who underwent resection at a single medical center for intracranial tumor was identified and their zip codes were matched to three variables derived from the Social Capital Atlas: economic connectedness, volunteering rate, and civic organizations. The economic connectedness score quantifies the degree to which low-income and high-income community members are friends with each other, the volunteering rate is defined as the proportion of a given community engaged in community organizations and the civic organization score is defined as the number of local civic organizations within a given community.

The authors present a rare variant of celiac axis anatomy including acute angle of departure, ultra-short length and «parallel» course of the main branches. When analyzing the literature on this problem, they found no similar reports. This clinical example once again emphasizes significant variability of celiac axis anatomy and the need for a thorough examination of patients using all possible diagnostic methods, especially before surgery.

The use of dental prostheses, including complete and partial dentures, is common among individuals with missing teeth. However, the association between denture types and the prevalence of TMD remains a subject of interest and concern in the field of oral health.

Background: With the increasing incidence of skin cancer, the workload for pathologists has surged. The diagnosis of skin samples, especially for complex lesions such as malignant melanomas and melanocytic lesions, has shown higher diagnostic variability compared to other organ samples. Consequently, artificial intelligence (AI)-based diagnostic assistance programs are increasingly needed to support dermatopathologists in achieving more consistent diagnoses.
