Novel Precursor for h‑BN Synthesis on Ni(111) Substrates.

J Phys Chem C Nanomater Interfaces

September 2025

Leiden Insitute of Chemistry, Leiden University, Einsteinweg 55, Leiden 2333 CC, Netherlands.

In this study, we report the synthesis of single-crystalline h-BN on Ni(111) under ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) conditions using hexamethylborazine (HMB) as a nonclassical precursor. The novel use of HMB facilitates the diffusion of methyl groups into the bulk of Ni(111), playing a critical role in the achievement of high-quality crystalline h-BN layers. The synthesis is performed on a 2 mm-thick Ni(111) single crystal and on a 2-μm-thick Ni(111) thin film on sapphire to evaluate the feasibility of synthesizing h-BN on industrially relevant substrates.

Two-dimensional (2D) materials offer a valuable platform for manipulating and studying chemical reactions at the atomic level, owing to the ease of controlling their microscopic structure at the nanometer scale. While extensive research has been conducted on the structure-dependent chemical activity of 2D materials, the influence of structural transformation during the reaction has remained largely unexplored. In this work, we report the layer-dependent chemical reactivity of MoS during a nitridation atomic substitution reaction and attribute it to the rearrangement of Mo atoms.

Objective: The current study aims to examine executive and social functioning in children and adolescents with Noonan syndromes, which contributes to the understanding of the cognitive and behavioral profile of this population and possible treatment options.

Method: A total of 26 children and adolescents with Noonan syndromes (including Noonan syndrome, Noonan syndrome with multiple lentigines, and Noonan-like syndrome with loose anagen hair; mean age = 11.92 years, SD = 2.

On-liquid surface synthesis of diyne-linked two-dimensional polymer crystals.

Nat Commun

September 2025

Center for Advancing Electronics Dresden & Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistry, Technische Universität Dresden, Dresden, Germany.

The synthesis of thin crystalline two-dimensional polymers (2DPs) typically relies on reversible dynamic covalent reactions. While substantial progress has been made in solution-based and interfacial syntheses, achieving 2DPs through irreversible carbon-carbon coupling reactions remains a formidable challenge. Herein, we present an on-liquid surface (a mixture of N,N-dimethylacetamide and water, DMAc-HO) synthesis method for constructing diyne-linked 2DP (DY2DP) crystals via Glaser coupling, assisted by a perfluoro-surfactant (PFS) monolayer.

Novel development of lipid-based formulations: Improved wettability and homogeneous API solid dispersion visualised via near-infrared hyperspectral imaging.

Eur J Pharm Biopharm

September 2025

Research Center Pharmaceutical Engineering GmbH, Inffeldgasse 13, 8010 Graz, Austria; University of Graz, Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Department of Pharmaceutical, Technology and Biopharmacy, Graz, Austria. Electronic address:

Lipid-based formulations have been successfully applied to improve the aqueous solubility of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), however, with the bottleneck of limited wettability of the system. In this study, a lipid-based system was developed using polyglycerol ester of fatty acids (PGFA) as the main component and hexaglycerol (PG6) as a wetting agent. Felodipine, a BCS class II compound was selected as a model API.
