Eggshell color is the most intuitive external feature that affects consumer acceptance. Different eggshell colors are mainly determined by protoporphyrin IX and biliverdin content. The selection of eggshell color by the human eye with an eggshell color fan can be roughly classified. Although more technologically advanced, a colorimeter or spectrophotometer might be of limited use when observing a variety of shell colors, such as brown, olive, green, and blue. This study aimed to provide a convenient and accurate method for predicting the content of eggshell pigments by measuring eggshell color using the Commission International de L'Eclairage (CIE) L*a*b* system. The results showed the deepening of eggshell color in brown and blue eggs was correlated with increased eggshell pigment deposition, and eggshell color was significantly positively correlated with eggshell pigment content (P < 0.01). Furthermore, the adjusted R of the fitted function was in the range of 0.81 to 0.89, and the Spearman rank correlation coefficient between the predicted and true values was in the range of 0.89 to 0.93. In brief, the L*a*b* method of measuring eggshell color to predict the amount of eggshell pigment deposition is convenient, effective, and promising for layer production.

Analyzing consumers' preferences and perceptions of eggs can provide data support for the egg industry to produce products that better meet consumer preferences. The study evaluated consumers' egg consumption preferences based on an online survey from 2022 to 2024 of 3,434 consumers of different ages. The results showed that Generation Z (Gen Z), referred to the people born after 1997, was more concerned about the topic of eggs and was willing to purchase eggs through e-commerce platforms.

Boron (B) is a trace element that plays an important role in animal nutrition and health; however, its effects on the productive performance of Wanxi white geese remain unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of dietary boron on reproductive performance, egg quality, and serum biochemical indices in Wanxi white geese during the laying period. A total of 126 one-year-old healthy geese were selected and randomly divided into three groups: 0 mg/kg B (control), 57 mg/kg B, and 114 mg/kg B supplementation in the diet.

Introduction: The rhizoma of (D. Don) Hara, a traditional natural medicinal herb with extensive historical applications in China, possess anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antioxidant, antimicrobial, immunomodulatory, and antidiabetic effects. However, the potential positive effects of rhizoma meal (FDRM) on productive performance in high-density laying duck farming remain unclear.

This study evaluated the production performance and egg quality of Lohmann Brown laying hens fed diets containing different levels of Corn Bran with Solubles (CBS). A total of 144 hens aged 44 weeks were assigned to three treatments in a completely randomized design, with eight replicates per treatment and six birds per replicate. The experimental treatments included diets with CBS inclusion levels of 0%, 5%, and 10%.
