Chronic cerebral artery occlusion is an important cause of cerebral ischemic events. Endovascular recanalization is an effective treatment for this condition, but its success depends on appropriate patient selection and assessment. This is a retrospective study that collected patients with chronic cerebral artery occlusion who underwent endovascular recanalization to determine how imaging features from computed tomography angiography - including the extent of internal carotid artery occlusion, the number of calcified vessels, and the degree of calcification in the occluded vessels - affect the success rate of recanalization.

Cardiovascular disease remains a major global health challenge, with dyslipidaemia being a key modifiable risk factor. While low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) is the primary target for lipid-lowering therapies, recent evidence highlights the importance of triglycerides, apolipoprotein B (apoB), and lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] for residual cardiovascular risk. Current lipid-lowering therapies target key enzymes and proteins involved in cholesterol and lipid metabolism.

We recently found that plasminogen receptors regulate the plasma membrane binding and uptake of Lp(a) via macropinocytosis. In this study, we sought to further define lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] macropinocytosis, discovering an unexpected role for antidepressants and serotonin in the regulation of this process. We found that the tricyclic antidepressant imipramine enhanced Lp(a) uptake, in contradiction of its published role as a macropinocytosis inhibitor.

Background: Limited evidence supports the use of electronic health records for developing prediction models to identify high-risk plaques in patients with unstable angina pectoris (UAP). This study aimed to develop and validate a practical high-risk plaque prediction model in patients with new onset UAP.

Methods: We prospectively enrolled consecutive patients presenting with new-onset UAP who underwent both coronary angiography and coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) at our center from January 2021 to December 2021.

Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) polymorphisms exhibit ethnic-specific associations with cardiovascular risk. However, their prognostic value for major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) in Asian populations remains undefined. This prospective cohort study enrolled 1969 patients (mean age 54.
