Spectroscopic soft sensors are developed by combining spectral data with chemometric modeling, and offer as Process Analytical Technology (PAT) tools powerful insights into biopharmaceutical processing. In this study, soft sensors based on Raman spectroscopy and linear or partial least squares (PLS) regression were developed and successfully transferred to a filtration-based recovery step of precipitated virus-like particles (VLPs). For near real-time monitoring of product accumulation and precipitant depletion, the dual-stage cross-flow filtration (CFF) set-up was equipped with an on-line loop in the second membrane stage.

Parkinson's Disease (PD), the second most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer's disease, is clinically characterized by resting tremor, rigidity and postural balance disorder. Its pathological essence is the progressive degenerative death of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc), leading to a significant decrease in striatal dopamine (DA) levels. This results in the dysfunction of basal ganglia-thalamus-cortex (BGTC) circuit.

An interferometer used for displacement measurement is typically adjusted to the center or another appropriate point of the interferometer fringe as a working point to yield maximum detection sensitivity and linearity. The interferometer is prone to varying misalignment in the course of measurements, most noticeable due to thermal drift affecting the interferometer dimensions. We introduce an automatic correction mechanism based on a proportional/integral (PI) control loop to remove any error in the alignment of the fiber interferometer, specifically long-term drift.

Objective: The increasing use of audio-video (AV) data in healthcare has improved patient care, clinical training, and medical and ethnographic research. However, it has also introduced major challenges in preserving patient-provider privacy due to Protected Health Information (PHI) in such data. Traditional de-identification methods are inadequate for AV data, which can reveal identifiable information such as faces, voices, and environmental details.

In humans, hypothermia prolongs ventricular repolarization and associates with sustained ventricular tachyarrhythmias. In bears, body temperature drops during hibernation similar to moderate human hypothermia, yet they rarely face fatal outcomes during the winter. This suggests protective adaptations in bear electrophysiology.
