Angiogenesis occurs during both physiological and pathological processes. In this study, a microfluidic chip for the development of angiogenesis was utilized to assess angiogenic sprouting and functional vessel formation. We also found that vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) was a determinant of the initiation of vascular sprouts, while the direction of these sprouts was greatly influenced by interstitial flow. Isoforms of VEGF such as VEGF, VEGF, and VEGF displayed different angiogenic properties on the chip as assessed by sprout length and number, vessel perfusion, and connectivity. VEGF had the highest capacity to induce vascular sprouting among the three isoforms assessed and furthermore, also induced functional vessel formation. This chip could be used to analyze the effect of different angiogenic factors and drugs, as well as to explore the mechanism of angiogenesis induced by such factors.

This review highlights the retina, an accessible extension of the central nervous system (CNS), as a window to cerebral pathology through structural, functional, and molecular alterations. By synthesizing interdisciplinary evidence, we identify retinal biomarkers as promising tools for early diagnosis and risk stratification.

Background: To assess the efficacy and safety of tenecteplase in patients presenting within 24 hours of symptom onset with a large vessel occlusion and target mismatch on perfusion computed tomography.
Methods: ETERNAL-LVO was a prospective, randomized, open-label, blinded end point, phase 3, superiority trial where adult participants with a large vessel occlusion, presenting within 24 hours of onset with salvageable tissue on computed tomography perfusion, were randomized to tenecteplase 0.25 mg/kg or standard care across 11 primary and comprehensive stroke centers in Australia.

In the past decades, several authors have investigated the possibility that genome size is correlated with metabolic rates, obtaining conflicting results. The main biological explanation among the supporters of this correlation was related to the nucleotypic effect of the genome size, which, determining the cellular volume and hence the surface area-to-volume ratio, influences cellular metabolism. In the present study, I tested a different hypothesis: genome size, influencing red blood cell (RBC) volume, is correlated with capillary density and diameter.

Background: In clinical practice, digital subtraction angiography (DSA) often suffers from misregistration artifact resulting from voluntary, respiratory, and cardiac motion during acquisition. Most prior efforts to register the background DSA mask to subsequent postcontrast images rely on key point registration using iterative optimization, which has limited real-time application.
Purpose: Leveraging state-of-the-art, unsupervised deep learning, we aim to develop a fast, deformable registration model to substantially reduce DSA misregistration in craniocervical angiography without compromising spatial resolution or introducing new artifacts.

Purpose: Isolated spinal aneurysms (iSAs) are rare, with an uncertain natural history and no established treatment guidelines. Multiple iSAs are even more uncommon, complicating treatment decisions.
Methods: This study reports a case of a ruptured radiculo-pial artery aneurysm in a patient with multiple iSAs, treated with surgical excision, assisted by intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM).
