Mounting evidence indicates that viruses exploit elevated reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels to promote replication and pathogenesis, yet the mechanistic underpinnings of this viral strategy remain elusive for many viral systems. This study uncovers a sophisticated viral counter-defense mechanism in the Cryphonectria hypovirus 1 (CHV1)-Fusarium graminearum system, where the viral p29 protein subverts host redox homeostasis to overcome antiviral responses. That p29 directly interacts with and inhibits the enzymatic activity of fungal NAD(P)H-dependent FMN reductase 1 (FMR1), leading to increased ROS accumulation and subsequent autophagy activation is demonstrated.

The present study investigated the effects of ultrasound-assisted L-lysine (Lys) in regulating mitochondrial function to enhance the color stability of porcine . The results indicated that the meat treated with ultrasound-assisted Lys showed higher * and * values, and lower * and * values. Simultaneously, the myoglobin (Fe) content significantly increased ( < 0.

Age-related eye diseases (AREDs) are the leading cause of visual impairment in the elderly, affecting the structure of the anterior and posterior segments of the eye, significantly reducing the quality of life of patients, and even leading to irreversible blindness. Typical AREDs include age-related cataract (ARC), dry eye disease (DED), age-related macular degeneration (AMD), glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy (DR), the global prevalence of which continues to rise, becoming a serious public health concern. SIRT1 is an NAD + dependent deacetylase, which plays an important physiological regulatory role in ocular tissues, mainly affecting gene expression and various cellular processes by regulating the acetylation status of substrate proteins.

Histomonas meleagridis is a parasitic protozoan which causes histomoniasis (blackhead disease) in a wide range of birds, including domesticated chickens and turkeys, representing a significant health problem in avian veterinary medicine. Despite being classified as an anaerobic parasite, H. meleagridis can survive transient exposure to oxygen while little is known about the mechanisms that allow this organism to cope with exposure to varying oxygen levels.

Grain size is a crucial determinant of rice yield, yet the molecular mechanisms controlling this trait remain only partially understood. Here, we identified the JMJ720 locus as a key regulator of grain size through map-based cloning. The jmj720 mutant was found to exhibit significantly larger grains when compared to the wild type (WT).
