An indicator displacement assay, namely polymeric PNPY-n/UD consisting of a cationic polynorbornene backbone with pyridinium functional groups (PNPY-1,2,3) and an anionic uranine dye (UD) as an indicator, has been developed for highly sensitive "turn-on" fluorescence sensing of ATP. While PNPY-1/UD itself is non-emissive, a bright green fluorescence signal was observed in the presence of ATP [ = 2.17 × 10 M, LOD = 5.7 nM]. The potential of a highly photostable system PNPY-1/UD was also validated in detecting ATP levels in live-cell imaging applications.

Purpose: This systematic review provides a critical evaluation, synthesis of the existing literature on isotretinoin's effects on craniomaxillofacial bone.
Methods: Following the PRISMA guidelines and registered in PROSPERO, the review was conducted in August 2024 across various databases. Eligible in vivo studies were analysed for their assessment of isotretinoin's effects on craniomaxillofacial bone.

Subject motion is a significant problem for the analysis of functional MRI data and is usually described by "total displacement" or "scan-to-scan displacement". Neither parameter, however, takes into account voxel size, which clearly is relevant for the actual effects of motion on the data. Consequently, it is hitherto impossible to compare motion between subjects/studies acquired using different voxel dimensions, precluding the development of generally applicable recommendations for fMRI quality control procedures.

Purpose: To use parametric numerical simulation to characterize and compare the differences in corneal biomechanical responses to laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) and keratorefractive lenticule extraction (KLEx) under various surgical settings.
Methods: The Finite Element Model was used in a parametric study to evaluate corneal biomechanical responses to LASIK and KLEx, considering variations in preoperative corneal thickness, corneal flap/cap thickness and diameter, refractive correction, and optical zone diameter. Surgery-induced stress, displacement, and interface contact pressure were compared between LASIK and KLEx using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test.

Objectives: Left ventricular vortex dynamics play a crucial role in cardiac function but are significantly altered by mitral valve diseases or surgical interventions. Such hemodynamic changes may lead to maladaptive intracardiac vortices, potentially triggering pathways associated with progressive left ventricular remodeling and thrombosis. This study assessed left ventricular hemodynamics under both physiological and pathological conditions using a biohybrid in vitro platform, aiming to analyze the impact of these conditions on cardiac function.

Recent works indicate that heterogeneous response and non-Markovianity may yield recognizable hallmarks in the microrheology of semisolid viscoelastic materials. Here we perform numerical simulations using a non-Markovian overdamped Langevin approach to explore how the microrheology experienced by probe particles immersed in an effective semisolid material can be influenced by its micro-heterogeneities. Our results show that, besides affecting the mean squared displacement, the time-dependent diffusion coefficient, and the shear moduli, the micro-heterogeneities lead to displacement distributions that deviate from the usual Gaussian behavior.
