Purpose: The specific genes or pathways in fibroblasts responsible for the pathogenesis of postoperative abdominal adhesion (PAA) remain to be elucidated. We aim to provide a new insight into disease mechanisms at the transcriptome level.
Methods: Male Sprague-Dawley rats were used to establish a PAA model. Primary fibroblasts were separated from normal peritoneal tissue (NF) and postoperative adhesion tissue (PF). RNA sequencing was used to analyze the transcriptome in NF and PF.
Results: One thousand two hundred thirty-five upregulated and 625 downregulated DEGs were identified through RNA-Seq. A pathway enrichment analysis identified distinct enriched biological processes, among which the most prominent was related to immune and inflammatory response and fibrosis. HE staining and Masson's trichrome staining histologically validated the RNA-Seq results. Six hub genes, ITGAM, IL-1β, TNF, IGF1, CSF1R and EGFR were further verified by RT-PCR.
Conclusions: Our study revealed the roles of the immune and inflammatory responses and fibrosis in the process of PAA. We also found six hub genes that may be potential therapeutic targets for PPA.

Conventional radiotherapy based on X rays is used to treat more than 50% of cancers. Although effective, radiotherapy can damage healthy tissues around the tumor due to the X-ray dose deposition profile, as well as the safety margin needed to compensate for dose uncertainties. A notable side effect is cellular senescence, characterized by the cessation of cell division while maintaining metabolic activity and promoting the secretion of various components, called the senescence-associated secretory phenotype.

Purpose: In this retrospective study, whether [Ga]Ga-DOTA-FAPI-04 PET/MR imaging biomarkers can predict the progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) of patients with advanced pancreatic cancer was investigated.
Methods: Fifty-one patients who underwent [Ga]Ga-DOTA-FAPI-04 PET/MR scans before first-line chemotherapy were recruited. Imaging biomarkers, including the maximum tumor diameter, minimum apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), maximum and mean standardized uptake values (SUV and SUV), fibroblast activation protein- (FAP-) positive tumor volume (FTV and W-FTV) and total lesion FAP expression (TLF and W-TLF), were recorded for primary and whole-body tumors.

The development of biomimetic scaffolds that emulate the extracellular matrix (ECM) is critical for advancing cell-based therapies and tissue regeneration. This study reports the formulation of CHyCoGel, a novel injectable, ECM-mimetic hydrogel scaffold composed of chitosan, hyaluronic acid, chondroitin sulfate, and an amphiphilic stabilizer. CHyCoGel addresses key limitations of existing scaffolds, offering improved structural uniformity, injectability, and gelation suitable for cell encapsulation and minimally invasive delivery.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by synovial hyperplasia and pannus formation, which serves as its primary pathological feature and may ultimately result in joint deformities. Lysyl oxidase (LOX) is involved in the formation and remodeling of the extracellular matrix, but its role in RA is not yet clear. This study aims to investigate the mechanism of lysyl oxidase (LOX) in synovial hyperplasia and pannus formation associated with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Emphysema is characterized by chronic alveolar destruction. Lipofibroblasts (LIF) are crucial in the stem cell niche surrounding alveolar type II (AT2) cells and may contribute to alveolar regeneration. We aim to determine whether emphysema is associated with LIF reduction and whether Sterol regulatory binding protein (SREBP) activation promotes LIF differentiation and fibroblast stem cell niche properties.
