Background/aim: Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) P95-isoform could be involved in trastuzumab resistance in HER2 metastatic breast cancer.
Materials And Methods: A total of 114 metastatic breast cancer patients treated with trastuzumab were evaluated retrospectively. HER2 was centrally reviewed. P95 was evaluated along with other markers possibly affecting trastuzumab efficacy in regards to progression-free survival and overall survival.
Results: HER2 was centrally negative in 54 cases. P95 expression was significantly higher in HER2-positive tumors. High p95 was associated with gain of HER2 copy number variations (CNVs), high pHER2Tyr877, Ki67 and HER2 mRNA. P95 as a continuous variable was positively correlated with mRNA expression of HER2 and negatively correlated with HER4 and IGF1. HER2-negative p95-high patients had a marginally higher risk for death (HR=2.15, p=0.055).
Conclusion: p95 was associated with higher HER2 CNVs and mRNA expression, pHER2Tyr877 expression and high Ki67, indicating a more aggressive phenotype.

Oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs), condensed tannins found plentiful in grape seeds and berries, have higher bioavailability and therapeutic benefits due to their low degree of polymerization. Recent evidence places OPCs as effective modulators of cancer stem cell (CSC) plasticity and tumor growth. Mechanistically, OPCs orchestrate multi-pathway inhibition by destabilizing Wnt/β-catenin, Notch, PI3K/Akt/mTOR, JAK/STAT3, and Hedgehog pathways, triggering β-catenin degradation, silencing stemness regulators (OCT4, NANOG, SOX2), and stimulating tumor-suppressive microRNAs (miR-200, miR-34a).

Objectives: Treatment delay can adversely affect cancer prognosis and public health. However, previous studies have not examined the association between cancer treatment delay and 5-year mortality risk for various cancer types in a single study population.
Methods: We used retrospective cohort data from 21 740 patients diagnosed with common cancers between 2000 and 2017, with mortality follow-up to 2022, from the Philippines' Department of Health-Rizal Cancer Registry to understand how treatment delay of <30, 30-90, or >90 days was associated with 5-year all-cause mortality risk, by cancer type and stage at diagnosis.

Introduction: Recent advancements in surgical techniques and perioperative care have improved cancer survival rates, yet postoperative comorbidity and mortality remain a critical concern. Despite progress in cancer control, systematic analyses of long-term mortality trends and competing risks in surgery-intervened cancer populations are lacking. This study aimed to quantify temporal patterns of postoperative mortality causes across 21 solid cancers and identify dominant non-cancer risk factors to inform survivorship care strategies.

The involvement of Choline Dehydrogenase (CHDH) in metabolic disorders and tumour progression has garnered significant scholarly interest. However, the specific role of CHDH in the metastasis and progression of breast cancer (BC) has been less thoroughly investigated. Our research indicates that CHDH protein expression is markedly elevated in breast cancer tissues compared to normal tissues, and this expression is positively correlated with the tumour node metastasis (TNM) stage of breast cancer.

Introduction: Cutaneous scalp metastases from breast carcinoma (CMBC) represent an uncommon manifestation of metastatic disease, with heterogeneous clinical presentations, including nodular or infiltrative lesions and scarring alopecia (alopecia neoplastica). The absence of standardized diagnostic criteria, particularly for alopecic phenotypes, poses challenges to early recognition of CMBC, which may represent either the first indication of neoplastic progression or a late recurrence.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed a multicenter cohort of 15 patients with histologically confirmed CMBC.
