Article Abstract

We demonstrate a watt-level mid-infrared supercontinuum source, with the spectrum covering the infrared region from 2 to 6.5 µm, in an all-fiber structured laser transmission system. To further improve the SC spectral bandwidth, power and system compactness in the follow-up AsS fiber, we theoretically and experimentally explored some knotty problems that would potentially result in the AsS fiber end-facet failure and low SC output power during the high-power butt-coupling process and proposed an optimal coupling distance on the premise of the safety of AsS fiber end face. In addition, we also built a multi-pulse pumping model for the first time to more precisely estimate the SC spectral evolution in AsS fiber. This work will give an important reference to someone who is working on the all-fiber structured, high-power mid- and far-infrared supercontinuum source.

Ge-based chalcogenide glass fibers exhibit a high damage threshold and exceptional water stability, making them an ideal material for transmitting Er: YAG laser beams. However, the problem of particle scattering in the current glass poses formidable challenge to the transmission of high-power Er: YAG lasers. In this study, we introduce what we believe to be a novel approach to mitigate internal scattering by employing a micron-scale filter in combination with a multi-stage dynamic distillation process, effectively extending the purity limits of Ge-CHG fibers.

Arazá () seeds, which are an abundant byproduct of pulp processing in the Amazon region, represent up to 84% of the fruit's dry matter and remain underutilized. The spatiotemporal heterogeneity in intratumor proliferative behavior of cancer cells deeply affects tumor environment characteristics and the efficacy of anticancer treatments. Thus, intravital imaging with unlimited imaging depth and cellular-level resolution is greatly desired. We developed an optical-fiber-bundle-based microendoscope with a genetically encoded fluorescent ubiquitination-based cell-cycle indicator (Fucci) system to achieve the intravital, periodic, and multicolor end-to-end imaging of the proliferative activity of cancer cells at a cellular-level resolution.
