Interstitial 6p25.1p24.3 microdeletions are rare events and a clear karyotype/phenotype correlation has not yet been determined. In this study, we present the clinical and molecular description of a child with a 6p25.1p24.3 microdeletion, characterized by array-CGH, associated with mild intellectual disability, facial dysmorphisms, hypopigmentation of the skin of the abdomen, heart defects, mild pontine hypoplasia and hypotonia. This deleted region contains 14 OMIM genes (, , , , , , , , , , and ). To the best of our knowledge until now only six cases have been reported presenting an interstitial microdeletion, but a unique case carries a deleted region containing the same genes of our patient. We compared clinical features and genetic data with that of the previously reported patient. We also analysed the gene content of the deleted region to investigate the possible role of specific genes in the clinical phenotype of our patient.

Macroautophagy/autophagy is an evolutionarily conserved process through which cells degrade cytoplasmic substances via autophagosomes. During the initiation of autophagosome formation, the ULK/Atg1 complex serves as a scaffold that recruits and regulates downstream ATG/Atg proteins and ATG9/Atg9-containing vesicles. Despite the essential role of the ULK/Atg1 complex, its components have changed during evolution; the ULK complex in mammals consists of ULK1 (or ULK2), RB1CC1, ATG13, and ATG101, whereas the Atg1 complex in the yeast lacks Atg101 but instead has Atg29 and Atg31 along with Atg17.

At the glutamatergic synapses between rod photoreceptors and ON-type bipolar cells, neurotransmitter is detected by the postsynaptic metabotropic glutamate receptor mGluR6. This receptor forms trans-synaptic interactions with ELFN1, a presynaptic cell adhesion molecule expressed in rods, and ELFN1 is important for mGluR6 localization at bipolar cell dendritic tips. Here, we show that in mice of either sex lacking mGluR6, the presynaptic localization of ELFN1 is disrupted.

Purpose: Tumor comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) may detect potential germline pathogenic/likely pathogenic (P/LP) alterations as secondary findings. We analyzed the frequency of potentially germline variants and large rearrangements (LRs) in the RATIONAL study, an Italian multicenter, observational clinical trial that collects next-generation sequencing-based tumor profiling data, and evaluated how these findings were managed by the enrolling centers.
Patients And Methods: Patients prospectively enrolled in the pathway-B of the RATIONAL study and undergoing CGP with the FoundationOne CDx assays were included in the analysis.

Background: Hearing loss (HL) is one of the most common congenital anomalies and is a complex etiologically diverse condition. Molecular genetic characterization of HL remains challenging owing to the high genetic heterogeneity. This study aimed to screen for potential disease-causing genetic variations in a cohort of Indian patients with congenital bilateral severe-to-profound sensorineural HL.

The Brucella abortus A19 attenuated live vaccine poses potential infection risks during practical applications and interferes with serological diagnostics, thereby affecting quarantine measures and the establishment of disease-free zones. Consequently, this study aimed to reduce its potential virulence, enhance its protective efficacy and differentiate it from wild-type strains by knocking out the immunosuppressive virulence gene btpB in the A19 strain. Using homologous recombination, we successfully obtained the A19ΔBtpB deletion strain.
