Article Abstract

Fe-Mimochrome VI*a is a synthetic peroxidase and peroxygenase, featuring two different peptides that are covalently-linked to deuteroheme. To perform a systematic structure/function correlation, we purposely shortened the distance between the distal peptide and the heme, allowing for the separation and characterization of two regioisomers. They differ in both His axial-ligand orientation, as determined by paramagnetic NMR shifts, and activity. These findings highlight that synthetic metalloenzymes may provide an efficient tool for disentangling the role of axial ligand orientation over peroxidase activity.

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) serves as a powerful tool for studying both the structure and dynamics of proteins. The NOE method, alongside residual dipolar; coupling, paramagnetic effects, -coupling, and other related techniques, has reached a level of maturity that allows for the determination of protein structures. Furthermore, NMR relaxation methods prove to be highly effective in characterizing protein dynamics across various timescales.

The photophysical properties of two new Bodipy dimers are investigated using a variety of techniques, including steady-state UV-vis absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy, femtosecond and nanosecond transient absorption spectroscopy, and pulse laser-excited time-resolved electron paramagnetic resonance (TREPR) spectroscopic methods. The dimers are formed by the Bodipy units rigidly linked by the orthogonal phenylene bridge. One of the dimers is composed of iodinated units, and the other is not.

Bridging tumor diagnosis and therapy remains a major challenge, largely due to the clinical separation of imaging and treatment, compounded by the low relaxivity of conventional MRI contrast agents. To address these limitations, we developed a copper-manganese hybrid nanogel (CMNG) the incorporation of Mn ions and CuS nanoparticles within a cross-linked polymeric network. This multifunctional design enables -weighted MRI-guided photothermal-chemodynamic therapy.

The BaGdRuO double perovskite oxide demonstrates intriguing behavior, arising from competing antiferromagnetic (AFM) and ferrimagnetic (FiM) phases. Under the GGA++SOC scheme, the system exhibits an AFM ground state with a very small energy difference of -11.39 meV compared to the FiM one.

Single-phase dysprosium orthoferrite (DyFeO: DFO) nanoparticles have been synthesized using the nanoagitator bead mill. Rietveld refinement of the experimental X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern confirms the orthorhombic crystal symmetry ( space group) of the material. The surface morphology, grain size distribution, and color mapping were analyzed.
