Article Abstract

The article describes a position statement and recommendations for actions that need to be taken to develop best practices for promoting scientific integrity through open science in health psychology endorsed at a Synergy Expert Group Meeting. Sixteen Synergy Meeting participants developed a set of recommendations for researchers, gatekeepers, and research end-users. The group process followed a nominal group technique and voting system to elicit and decide on the most relevant and topical issues. Seventeen priority areas were listed and voted on, 15 of them were recommended by the group. Specifically, the following priority actions for health psychology were endorsed: (1) : advancing when and how to make data open and accessible at various research stages and understanding researchers' beliefs and attitudes regarding open data; (2) : integrating open science in research curricula, e.g., through online open science training modules, promoting preregistration, transparent reporting, open data and applying open science as a learning tool; (3) : providing an open science statement, and open data policies, including a minimal requirements submission checklist. Health psychology societies and journal editors should collaborate in order to develop a coordinated plan for research integrity and open science promotion across behavioural disciplines.

Epigenetic processes, such as DNA methylation, show potential as biological markers and mechanisms underlying gene-environment interplay in the prediction of mental health and other brain-based phenotypes. However, little is known about how peripheral epigenetic patterns relate to individual differences in the brain itself. An increasingly popular approach to address this is by combining epigenetic and neuroimaging data; yet, research in this area is almost entirely comprised of cross-sectional studies in adults.

A major cause of cancer death, colorectal cancer is becoming more common in younger people. The comparative effectiveness of robotic versus laparoscopic total mesorectal excision (TME) as surgical interventions for mid-low rectal cancer following neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) remains uncertain. To systematically evaluate oncological, perioperative, and survival outcomes of robotic versus laparoscopic surgery for mid-low rectal cancer following nCRT.

Recent advances in computational strategies for allosteric site prediction: Machine learning, molecular dynamics, and network-based approaches.

Drug Discov Today

September 2025

Department of Pharmaceutical and Artificial-Intelligence Sciences, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai 200025, China; Key Laboratory of Protection, Development and Utilization of Medicinal Resources in Liupanshan Area, Ministry of Education, Peptide & Protein Drug Research Cen

The landscape of allosteric drug discovery is undergoing a transformative shift, driven by the integration of three computational approaches: machine learning (ML), molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, and network theory. ML identifies potential allosteric sites from multidimensional biological datasets; MD simulations, empowered by enhanced sampling algorithms, reveal transient conformational states; and network analyses uncover communication pathways, further aiding in site identification. Their synergy enables rational allosteric modulator design.

Background: Preoperative physical frailty is a significant predictor of adverse postoperative outcomes in older patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Inflammation plays a crucial role in the development of frailty and contributes to postoperative complications. This study investigated the effects of preoperative beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate (HMB), arginine, and glutamine supplementation on inflammatory markers, nutritional status, and renal function in older patients undergoing cardiac surgery.

Boat noise alters behaviour of two coral reef macroinvertebrates, Lambis lambis and Tridacna maxima.

Mar Pollut Bull

September 2025

Marine Science Program, Biological and Environmental Science and Engineering Division, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Thuwal 23955-6900, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Boat noise has been shown to distract and cause harm to many marine organisms. Most of the study effort has focused on fish & marine mammals, even though invertebrates represent over 92 % of all marine life. The few studies conducted on invertebrates have demonstrated clear negative effects of anthropogenic noise pollution.
