Nonresolving or slowly resolving pneumonia (NRP) poses a diagnostic challenge because infectious and noninfectious etiologies often mimic community-acquired pneumonia on imaging. Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial lung biopsy (EBUS-TBLB) improves tissue acquisition for peripheral lesions, whereas metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) offers culture-independent pathogen detection. Whether their combination enhances etiological clarification of NRP remains uncertain.

Background: The diagnostic yield of virtual bronchoscopy with radial endobronchial ultrasound (r-EBUS) for peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs) remains unsatisfactory because of limited lesion access by biopsy instruments. r-EBUS-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA) followed by transbronchial biopsy (TBB) (TBNA/TBB) with a guide sheath (GS) potentially increases the PPL diagnostic yield as the needle penetrates the bronchial wall, enabling subsequent forceps biopsy closer to the lesion. However, regarding the application of r-EBUS-guided TBNA/TBB for PPL diagnosis, data on the diagnostic yield of TBNA/TBB with a GS are limited compared with those on TBNA/TBB without a GS.

Objective: This study evaluates the effectiveness and safety of C-arm cone beam CT (CBCT)-guided microcoil localization combined with uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for the management of small, difficult-to-localize ground-glass opacities (GGOs) and sub-solid nodules in the lungs.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data from 13 patients with single, small, peripheral, non-subpleural GGOs or SSN. All patients underwent successful microcoil localization using CB-CT guidance followed by uniportal VATS resection.

Purpose: This study evaluated inter-/intra-reader agreement with the Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System (PI-RADS) version 2.1 to improve the detection rate of prostate cancer.

Materials And Methods: We enrolled 210 patients who underwent multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) for clinically suspected or diagnosed prostate cancer.

Metabolic inflammation (metaflammation) may occur throughout the body and evolve into various metabolic syndromes, so developing a universal approach for diagnosing and treating metaflammation is meaningful. Here, we developed a single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT)-based photothermal shock therapy (PTST) for photoacoustic image-guided therapy of metaflammation. Mechanistically, SWNTs are specifically taken up by Ly-6C monocytes in peripheral blood and then rerouted to inflamed tissues Ly-6C monocyte hitchhiking.
