A GH1 β-glucosidase from the fungus Hamamotoa singularis (HsBglA) has high transgalactosylation activity and efficiently converts lactose to galactooligosaccharides. Consequently, HsBglA is among the most widely used enzymes for industrial galactooligosaccharide production. Here, we present the first crystal structures of HsBglA with and without 4'-galactosyllactose, a tri-galactooligosaccharide, at 3.0 and 2.1 Å resolutions, respectively. These structures reveal details of the structural elements that define the catalytic activity and substrate binding of HsBglA, and provide a possible interpretation for its high catalytic potency for transgalactosylation reaction.

Electrochemical nitrogen fixation-a sustainable pathway for converting abundant N into NH using renewable energy-holds transformative potential for revolutionizing artificial nitrogen cycles. Nevertheless, even the state-of-the-art catalytic systems also suffer from inadequate N adsorption capacity, which critically limits ammonia production rates and Faradaic efficiency (FE). To overcome this bottleneck, we strategically leveraged the antiferroelectric properties of SnO to establish dipole-dipole interactions with N molecules, synergistically enhancing both N adsorption and activation kinetics.

The aim of this study was to increase growth hormone (GH1) and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF1) levels in rat muscle indirectly through the transduction of C2C12 cells via lentivectors and to compare their effects on muscle mass. The coding sequences of GH1, IGF1, and GH1-IGF1, linked by the 2 A self-cleaving peptide to enable polycistronic expression, were synthesized, cloned and inserted into the pCDH vector. Recombinant pseudolentiviruses containing our target genes were produced in HEK293T cells.

Background: Growth hormone-secreting pituitary neuroendocrine tumors (GH-secreting PitNETs) pose significant health risks due to hormone-related complications. Despite transsphenoidal surgical resection being the primary treatment, complete removal is often infeasible due to invasive growth patterns, leading to postoperative tumor residuals and uncertain hormone remission outcomes.
Methods: This retrospective study included 458 patients with GH-secreting PitNETs who underwent surgery at Beijing Tiantan Hospital.

Oligomerization is a key feature of protein function, with approximately 30% of proteins exhibiting this trait. The homodimeric form of proteins, such as the GH1 β-glucosidase from (Sfβgly), plays a significant role in enzyme activity. In this study, we investigate the homodimerization of Sfβgly, which forms a cyclic C2 dimer with a well-defined interface.

Electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction (NRR) offers a sustainable pathway for ammonia (NH) production but is challenged by the low solubility of N in aqueous electrolytes, the high energy barrier of N activation, and the competing hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Herein, cucurbit[6]uril (CB[6]) is immobilized onto the surface of molybdenum oxide (CB[6]@MoO). The CB[6]@MoO catalyst exhibits a high NH production rate of 27.
