Bimodal classification of idiopathic chronic pancreatitis (ICP) into early-onset (<35 years) and late-onset (>35 years) ICP was proposed in 1994 based on a study of 66 patients. However, bimodal distribution wasn't sufficiently demonstrated. Our objective was to examine the validity and relevance of the age-based bimodal classification of ICP. We analyzed the distribution of age at onset of ICP in our cohort of 1633 patients admitted to our center from January 2000 to December 2013. Classify ICP patients into early-onset ICP and late-onset ICP according to different cut-off values (cut-off value, a = 15, 25, 35, 45, 55, 65 years old) for age at onset. Compare clinical characteristics of early-onset ICP and late-onset ICP. We found slightly right skewed distribution of age at onset for ICP in our cohort. There were differences between early-onset and late-onset ICP with respect to basic clinical characteristics and development of key clinical events regardless of the cut off age at onset i.e. 15, 25, 35, 45 or even higher. The validity of the bimodal classification of early-onset and late-onset ICP could not be established in our large patient cohort and therefore such a classification needs to be reconsidered.

Objective: Determine whether acute kidney injury (AKI) is associated with subsequent late-onset infection (LOI) among extremely low gestational age newborns (ELGAN).
Study Design: Secondary analysis of participants in the Preterm Erythropoietin for Neuroprotection Trial. Infants surviving ≥7 days with sufficient serum creatinine data were included.

Objective: There are limited data regarding the association and differentiation between proliferative verrucous leukoplakia (PVL) and unifocal verrucous leukoplakia (UVL).
Methods: We retrospectively recruited oral leukoplakia (OL) patients from 2010 to 2024, analyzing the demographic, clinical, histopathological features, and malignant transformation of PVL and UVL.
Results: Among 1756 OL subjects, PVL and UVL accounted for 1.

Objectives: Same-level falls are the most frequent type of occupational accidents in Japan, and approximately 35% of these accidents occurred among healthcare and retail workers. The aim of this study was to analyze the status of same-level falls in the healthcare and retail industries, where many such incidents occur, with a focus on outdoor same-level falls and to elucidate their characteristics.
Methods: This study targeted occupational accidents due to same-level falls that resulted in four or more days of absence from work among healthcare and retail workers, based on data from the 2021 Occupational Injury Database.

Background: Biallelic variants lead to autosomal recessive Charcot-Marie-Tooth type 4C (CMT4C) which is typically demyelinating and associated with early-onset spinal deformities. Electrophysiology typically reveals a non-uniform conduction velocity (CV) slowing, a pattern traditionally linked to inflammatory neuropathies, potentially leading to diagnostic misinterpretation.
Objective And Methods: Clinical and neurophysiological data from 19 patients belonging to 16 unrelated families with confirmed CMT4C were retrospectively collected across six neuromuscular reference centres in Brazil.

Objectives: Although lung cancer in never smokers (LCNSs) accounts for an estimated 25% of all lung cancer cases, the temporal trends in LCNS incidence and its broader epidemiological patterns remain poorly understood. Our study examines the temporal trends in LCNS incidence and analyses key epidemiological characteristics, specifically, the trends in mortality rates, survival rates and changes in age at onset to illuminate the reasons for temporal trends in LCNS incidence.
Design: Retrospective population-based cohort study.
