Introduction: Repaired total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) patients with preoperative pulmonary venous obstruction (PVO) have reductions in echocardiographic metrics, such as left atrial reservoir function and pulmonary venous variability index (PVVI). We hypothesized reduced preoperative left atrial strain mechanics in isolated TAPVC patients serve as risk factors for postoperative PVO. We also evaluated echocardiographic metrics and clinical characteristics associated with preoperative and postoperative PVO, as well as compared these to healthy controls.

Background: Peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) is a rare, life-threatening form of heart failure occurring in late pregnancy or postpartum, with variable clinical course and outcomes. We report preliminary clinical and echocardiographic findings from a national Italian registry of PPCM patients METHODS: The study was approved by the institutional Ethics Committee and registered at ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT05878041).

Objective: To describe national patterns in the screening, diagnosis, and clinical management of bronchopulmonary dysplasia-associated pulmonary hypertension (BPD-PH) in Spanish neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) and assess the need for standardized screening and management protocols and unified follow-up strategies.

Methods: A 20-question electronic survey was distributed to all Level III NICUs in the Spanish public health system to evaluate practices in BPD-PH screening, diagnosis, and clinical management. Results were analyzed globally and by NICU level (IIIB vs.

Aims: Left ventricular (LV) global longitudinal strain (GLS) is a sensitive marker for detection of subclinical LV systolic dysfunction, but variability in acquisition and analysis may limit its clinical utility. We studied the accuracy, variability, and correlation of LV GLS across different 2D and 3D echocardiographic acquisition methods and post-processing platforms.

Methods And Results: In this prospective study, we analyzed 254 consecutive patients (mean age 55 ± 16 years, 60% female) undergoing clinically indicated echo.

Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing, Jiangsu, China.

ObjectivesThe aim of the present study was to evaluate the sedative and echocardiographic effects of dexmedetomidine (DEX) administered via intranasal (IN) and intramuscular (IM) routes in cats.MethodsThis randomised, blinded crossover study involved eight healthy adult cats. Cats were randomly allocated to receive DEX 10 μg/kg via either the IN or IM routes.
