Article Abstract

Optical double-quantum two-dimensional coherent spectroscopy (2DCS) was implemented to probe interatomic dipole-dipole interactions in both potassium and rubidium atomic vapors. The dipole-dipole interaction was detected at densities of 4.81×10 cm and 8.40×10 cm for potassium and rubidium, respectively, corresponding to a mean interatomic separation of 15.8 m or 3.0×10 for potassium and 6.1 m or 1.2×10 for rubidium, where is the Bohr radius. The experimental results confirm the long range nature of the dipole-dipole interaction, which is critical for understanding many-body physics in atoms/molecules. The long range interaction also has implications in atom-based applications involving many-body interactions. Additionally, we demonstrated that double-quantum 2DCS is sufficiently sensitive to probe dipole-dipole interaction at densities that can be achieved with cold atom in a magneto-optical trap, paving the way for double-quantum 2DCS studies of cold atoms and molecules. The method can also open a new avenue to study long-range interactions in solid state systems such as quantum dots and color centers in diamonds.

Sulfone bonding is an emerging dipole-dipole interaction between sulfone groups. Herein, sulfone bonding is used for the first time for engineering tough hydrogels. Sulfone-bond-toughened hydrogels are prepared by copolymerizing acrylamide with a sulfone-functionalized monomer.

In this paper, we investigated the thermal, dynamical, and structural properties, as well as association patterns, in 3-phenyl-1-propanol (3P1Pol) and 3-phenyl-1-propanal (3P1Pal), with special attention paid to the latter compound. Both systems turned out to be good glass formers, differing by 17 K in the glass transition temperature, which indicated a strong change in the self-assembly pattern. This supposition was further confirmed by the analysis of dielectric spectra, where, apart from the α-relaxation, also a unique Debye (D)-mode, being a fingerprint of the self-association, characterized by different dynamical properties (dielectric strength, timescale separation from the α-process), was detected in both samples.

Antiferroelectric SnO Network with Amorphous Surface for Electrochemical N Fixation.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

September 2025

State Key Laboratory of Bioinspired Interfacial Materials Science, Bioinspired Science Innovation Center, Hangzhou International Innovation Institute, Beihang University, Hangzhou, 311115, China.

Electrochemical nitrogen fixation-a sustainable pathway for converting abundant N into NH using renewable energy-holds transformative potential for revolutionizing artificial nitrogen cycles. Nevertheless, even the state-of-the-art catalytic systems also suffer from inadequate N adsorption capacity, which critically limits ammonia production rates and Faradaic efficiency (FE). To overcome this bottleneck, we strategically leveraged the antiferroelectric properties of SnO to establish dipole-dipole interactions with N molecules, synergistically enhancing both N adsorption and activation kinetics.

Dual-functional phthalamide modulation of aging-resistant PbI for efficient perovskite solar cells.

J Colloid Interface Sci

September 2025

School of Materials Science and Engineering, Taizhou University, Taizhou 318000, China. Electronic address:

The sequential preparation of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) has received widespread concern for its use in large-scale perovskite modules and perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells. However, the instability of the PbI precursor solution and the incomplete reaction of ammonium salts hinder the industrialization of PSCs. Here, by introducing phthalamide (PA) into PbI solution, the carbonyl oxygen of PA molecules undergoes a bidentate coordination reaction with Pb to form an octahedral coordination structure, and the nitrogen atom in the -NH group exhibits weakly acidic properties due to the conjugation effect.

Phosphors, as the crucial material of phosphor-converted white light-emitting diodes (pc-WLEDs), have played an essential role in improving luminescent efficiency and regulating color rendering index (CRI). Hence, we have successfully synthesized a novel Eu doped Sr(AlO)(WO) (SAWO) green phosphor for the first time using the solid-state reaction, as well as systematically investigated its phase and crystal structure, luminescent properties, and thermal stability. The SAWO:x mol%Eu (0.
