Article Abstract

A series of 34 1,2,3-triazole-naphthoquinone conjugates were synthesized via copper-catalyzed cycloaddition (CuAAC). They were evaluated for their in vitro antimalarial activity against chloroquine-sensitive strains of and against three different tumor cell lines (SKBr-3, MCF-7, HEL). The most active antimalarial compounds showed a low antiproliferative activity. Simplified analogues were also obtained and some structure-activity relationships were outlined. The best activity was obtained by compounds and having IC of 0.8 and 1.2 μM, respectively. Molecular dockings were also carried on Plasmodium falciparum enzyme dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) in order to rationalize the results.

Background: Combination therapy with enfortumab vedotin plus pembrolizumab (EV+P) is now the preferred first-line (1L) therapy for advanced urothelial carcinoma (aUC), but prognostic indicators for patients on 1L EV+P have not yet been described.

Patients And Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of patients receiving 1L EV+P for aUC. We analyzed deidentified electronic health record data from the Flatiron Health database to identify adults with aUC who initiated EV+P between April 3, 2023 and December 31, 2024.

Antigen-binding proteins, such as nanobodies, modified with functional small molecules hold great potential for applications including imaging probes, drug conjugates, and localized catalysts. However, traditional chemical labeling methods that randomly target lysine or cysteine residues often produce heterogeneous conjugates with limited reproducibility. Conventional site-specific conjugation approaches, which typically modify only the N- or C-terminus, may also be insufficient to achieve the desired functionalities.

Background: Sulfur dioxide (SO) is recognized as a major atmospheric pollutant and its excessive emissions can pose a great threat to the environment, flora and fauna, and human health. Long-term exposure to excessive SO can cause chronic poisoning, leading to neurological disorders and cardiovascular diseases. However, there are two sides to everything.

Egg yolk immunoglobulin (IgY) has emerged as a promising alternative to monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) due to its facile extraction, higher yield, and greater tolerance to organic solvents. This work developed a selective IgY antibody against bongkrekic acid (BA) and isobongkrekic acid (IsoBA), the lethal toxins produced by Burkholderia gladioli pv. Cocovenenans (BGC), which led to severe food poisoning incidents and resulted in casualties.

Background: Breast-conserving surgery (BCS) is the primary surgical approach for patients with breast cancer. The accurate determination of surgical margins during BCS is critical for patient prognosis; however, time constraints and limitations in current pathological techniques often prevent pathologists from performing this assessment intraoperatively. The inability to reliably assess margins during surgery can lead to incomplete tumor removal and the need for additional surgeries.
