Article Abstract

By modifying the 10-butyl-2-methoxy-10H-phenothiazine-3-carbaldehyde with malonontrile group, a new fluorescent sensor PBM for selective detection of hydrazine in ratiometric mode has been developed. Probe PBM owned the advantages of quick response (10 min), remarkable Stokes shift (168 nm for PBM, 161 nm for PBM-NH), excellent selectivity, high sensitivity (detection limit of 63.2 nM was obtained from in vitro experiment), profound ratiometric change (82-fold) and low cytotoxicity in response to hydrazine. Additionally, it could be utilized to monitor hydrazine in gas state with various concentrations through vivid color changes and imaged hydrazine in living MCF-7 cells with excellent performance.

Monitoring the hydrazine (NH) level is essential for environmental and health safety, while traditional detection methods face challenges including low sensitivity, complex sample handling, and sophisticated operation. In this study, a novel fluorescent probe, ZNP, was designed and synthesized for tracking hydrazine in soils and river water. It was used for in situ monitoring of hydrazine generation in living cells.

A malondialdehyde-activated fluorescent probe reveals lysosomal dysfunction in atherosclerosis.

Lysosomes, serving as the digestive centers in cells, play a crucial role in lipid metabolism, inflammatory regulation, and cellular homeostasis. The bidirectional vicious cycle between lysosomal dysfunction and oxidative stress synergistically promotes the occurrence, development and instability of atherosclerosis. Therefore, accurate assessment of lysosomal oxidative stress contributes to monitoring atherosclerosis progression and facilitating early diagnosis.

Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Molecular Engineering, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences), Jinan 250353, China.

Herein, a new carbazole-based fluorescent probe 3-methyl-2-(2-(9-propyl-9H-carbazol-3-yl)vinyl)benzo[d]thiazol-3-ium iodide (CTB) with a D-π-A structure was exploited for the colorimetric/fluorescent dual-signal detection of hydrazine (NH). CTB showed ultrashort reaction time (30 s), ultrahigh anti-interference, good specificity, outstanding sensitivity (low detection limit: 24.6 nM), and wide pH applicable range (4-11).

Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) remains the leading cause of infectious disease deaths, particularly among people living with HIV (PWH). Despite being preventable, TB preventive therapy (TPT) uptake is low in high-burden regions like South Africa, where new guidelines have expanded TPT eligibility and introduced shorter, more effective regimens like 3 months of weekly rifapentine and isoniazid (3HP). As differentiated service delivery models for HIV care have proven effective, there is increasing recognition that decentralising TPT delivery may improve coverage and completion.

The pharmacokinetics (PK) of antituberculosis drugs may be altered by both pregnancy-induced physiological changes and drug interactions in individuals living with HIV who develop tuberculosis. Within the multicenter International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials Network P1026s study, we assessed the PK of rifampin, isoniazid, ethambutol, and pyrazinamide during pregnancy and postpartum (PP) in women on efavirenz-based antiretroviral therapy (ART). Results were compared to a previously published non-HIV group and described minimum targets.
