Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae causes enzootic pneumonia (EP) in swine, a disease related to high economic losses in production systems. Epidemiological spread of M. hyopneumoniae clones was studied by multi-locus sequence typing (MLST) in several swine production regions but so far not in South America. Using MLST, we have therefore investigated M. hyopneumoniae clones circulating in farms from three main swine production regions in Brazil. Porcine lungs samples were collected between 2015 and 2016 in farms with EP outbreaks. Three geographically distant regions were selected, and 67 M. hyopneumoniae positive samples, each one from a different farm, were included in the study. The occurrence of five sequence types (ST) was demonstrated and the majority of the samples were identified as ST-69 (n = 60; 89.5%), followed by ST-70 (n = 3; 4.5%), ST-123 (n = 2; 3%), ST-124 (n = 1; 1.5%) and ST-127 (n = 1; 1.5%). There was no association of any specific ST with region or production system. The five STs were all new ones, probably representing unique Brazilian clones. ST-69 and ST-70 on one side and ST-123 and ST-124 on the other side are phylogenetically close, while ST-127 is singleton. In conclusion, our results showed a low variability and high clonality of M. hyopneumoniae genotypes from Brazilian farms affected by EP.

Introduction: Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (Mhp) infection significantly challenges Guangxi's pig farms, yet its prevalence and molecular characteristics remain poorly understood. This study aimed to define circulating Mhp genotypes and their distribution in the region.
Methods: From 2022-2023, 1,362 pig lung samples were randomly collected from 14 Guangxi regions.

Enzootic pneumonia (EP) caused by () has a significant impact on swine production. Subtherapeutic exposures of tylvalosin in swine, often due to inconsistent dosing in feed or water, promote antimicrobial resistance. This study investigated the efficacy of 1.

Increasing antibiotic resistance in Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (Mhp) necessitates alternative treatments. Piper sarmentosum extracts (PSE) and guava extracts (GE) show promise due to their antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. This study evaluates the combined in vitro effects of PSE and GE against Mhp and their antioxidant activities.

() and porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV-2) are major and widespread swine pathogens, both implicated in the porcine respiratory disease complex, which can lead to significant economic losses for pig producers. PCV-2d is currently the most prevalent genotype. Vaccination against these two pathogens helps mitigate their impact on pig health and performance.

: This study describes multiple trials demonstrating the safety and efficacy of a tri-valent vaccine against diseases caused by Porcine Circovirus Types 2a and 2d (PCV2a, PCV2d), , and . : For each of the PCV2a and PCV2d onset of immunity (OOIs) and duration of immunity (DOI) studies, 25 pigs were vaccinated with a tri-valent vaccine and 25 with placebo. After dual challenge with PCV2a and porcine reproductive and respiratory virus (PRRSV) (OOI) or single challenge with PCV2d (OOI and DOI), respectively, viremia and lymphoid depletion data were collected.
