To avoid collisions, Micro Air Vehicles (MAVs) flying in teams require estimates of their relative locations, preferably with minimal mass and processing burden. We present a relative localization method where MAVs need only to communicate with each other using their wireless transceiver. The MAVs exchange on-board states (velocity, height, orientation) while the signal strength indicates range. Fusing these quantities provides a relative location estimate. We used this for collision avoidance in tight areas, testing with up to three AR.Drones in a area and with two miniature drones ( ) in a area. The MAVs could localize each other and fly several minutes without collisions. In our implementation, MAVs communicated using Bluetooth antennas. The results were robust to the high noise and disturbances in signal strength. They could improve further by using transceivers with more accurate signal strength readings.

Frailty, often linked to sarcopenia, involves reduced muscle strength and mass. While sarcopenia has multiple causes, impaired muscle protein synthesis may contribute. Leucine and resistance training (RT) are anabolic stimuli, but the long-term effects of leucine combined with RT in pre/frail older women remain unclear.

Multiplex assays of variant effect (MAVEs) provide promising new sources of functional evidence, potentially empowering improved classification of germline genomic variants, particularly rare missense variants, which are commonly assigned as variants of uncertain significance (VUSs). However, paradoxically, quantification of clinically applicable evidence strengths for MAVEs requires construction of "truthsets" comprising missense variants already robustly classified as pathogenic and benign. In this study, we demonstrate how benign truthset size is the primary driver of applicable functional evidence toward pathogenicity (PS3).

Developing high-performance wearable flexible sensors that can adapt well to complex environments has become a hotspot. Herein, a polyvinyl alcohol based composite hydrogel sensor with high mechanical strength, desirable frost/swelling resistance, and highly sensitive sensing performance was proposed by a multi-component collaborative design strategy. Meanwhile, an intelligent gesture recognition system was established by combining machine learning algorithm.

This study investigated the correlation between the strength of correlated effective neural drive (END) to the antagonistic muscles and the fluctuations in neural/electrical and mechanical output around the joint during steady co-contraction, and whether the correlated END strength estimated from conventional surface EMG is correlated with that determined from motor unit (MU) discharges. Fourteen young male participants performed isometric steady co-contractions with their medial gastrocnemius and tibialis anterior muscles at 10% of maximal EMG while sitting. Correlated END strength was quantified as the maximum value of the cross-correlation function between the conventional surface EMG signals and between MU discharges decomposed from high-density surface EMG of each muscle.

Alpha-2-macroglobulin (A2M) is a critical biomarker implicated in inflammation, immune regulation, coagulation, and various pathological conditions such as liver fibrosis, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancers. However, its precise quantification remains challenging due to complex conformational dynamics, subtle abundance fluctuations, and interference from plasma proteins. Here, we present a label-free dynamic single-molecule sensing (LFDSMS) strategy for the sensitive and specific detection of A2M.
