A simple naphthalene derivative, 6-hydroxy-2-naphthohydrazide (NAH), was designed and synthesized through two facile steps reactions with the 6-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid (NCA) as the starting material. In neat HO (10% 0.01 M HEPES buffer, v/v, pH = 7.4), probe NAH showed a highly selective and sensitive response towards Fe via perceptible color change and displayed "turn-on" dual-emission fluorescence response for Cu. The binding stoichiometry ratio of NAH/Cu and NAH/Fe were all confirmed as 1:1 by the method of fluorescence job's plot and UV-Vis job's plot, respectively. Probe NAH can be used over a wide pH range for the determination of Fe (2.0-10.0) and Cu (6.0-10.0) without interference from other co-existing metal ions. A possible detection mechanism was the hydrolysis of NAH upon the addition of Fe or Cu, thereby leading to the formation of 6-hydroxy-naphthalene-2-carboxylic acid (NCA) which was further confirmed by the various spectroscopic techniques including FT-IR, H NMR titration and HRMS. Moreover, NAH was successfully applied to the detection of Cu and Fe in tap water, ultrapure water and BSA.

The brain avidly consumes glucose to fuel neurophysiology. Cancers of the brain, such as glioblastoma, relinquish physiological integrity and gain the ability to proliferate and invade healthy tissue. How brain cancers rewire glucose use to drive aggressive growth remains unclear.

While acetic acid has proven effective as a mild acidic treatment for removing adhered mortar from recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) surfaces, its potential for dissolving damage to the surface of the original natural coarse aggregate (NCA) within the RCA and its impact on the resultant concrete properties require careful consideration. This investigation systematically evaluates the effects of varying concentrations of dilute acetic acid solutions, commonly used in RCA treatment protocols, through a multi-methodological approach that includes comprehensive physical characterization, stylus and 3D optical profilometry, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and nanoindentation analysis. The results show that even dilute acid solutions have an upper concentration limit, as excessive acid concentration, specifically 0.

Vonoprazan provides stronger acid suppression compared to PPIs; however, evidence regarding its effectiveness and safety in treating EE remains limited. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the comparative effectiveness and safety of VPZ versus LPZ in the healing and maintenance phases of EE.

Background: Primary cicatricial alopecia (PCA) is a group of disorders causing irreversible hair loss because of hair follicle destruction. Although bacterial colonization is suspected to contribute to PCA pathogenesis, its role remains unclear.
Objective: To investigate bacterial colonization patterns and antibiotic susceptibility profiles in patients with PCA compared to those with non-inflammatory scalp conditions.

Nanocellulose-based composite aerogels have the advantages of high porosity, biodegradability, and biocompatibility, with wide applications in many fields, such as adsorption, separation, energy storage, and heat insulation. In this study, a nanocellulose-based composite aerogel (NCA) was prepared using the one-pot method with cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs), tannic acid (TA), and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as raw materials. The adsorption behaviors of Pb, Cd, and Cu were also studied.
