To investigate the strengths and limitations of different indicators to measure physical load. Furthermore, indicators were evaluated for discrimination between performance levels and playing positions. Ninety positional match files from 70 elite players and 91 match files from 69 subelite players were collected during 14 official under-18 matches using a local position measurement system. Indicators are calculated from speed, absolute acceleration (acc-abs), or percentage acceleration (acc-%). The acc-% describes the level of acceleration depending on the maximal voluntary acceleration () for each initial running speed. Effect sizes (ES) were used to determine discriminative ability. The number of high accelerations largely depended on the method (absolute threshold [>3 m·s and >4 m·s] 120 and 59 efforts; high percentage threshold [>75% ] 84 efforts). Only a small number of highly accelerated efforts reached speeds considered high-speed running (>19.8 km·h: 32.6%). More high acc-% exists from initial running speed >2 m·s (23.0) compared with acc-abs (>3 m·s 14.4, >4 m·s 5.9). Elite players achieve higher values in most performance indicators, with ES being highest for the number of high acc-% (ES = 0.91) and high acc-abs (>3 m·s ES = 0.86, >4 m·s ES = 0.87), as well as for covered distance in jogging (ES = 0.94). Estimated physical load, discriminative ability of physical indicators, and positional requirements largely depend on the applied method. A combination of speed-based and acc-% methods is recommended to get a comprehensive view.

Purpose: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is a common technique in the surgical management of renal lithiasis, but it also represents a significant workload for surgeons. Factors such as the patient's position and the type of lithotripter used influence the physical and mental load on the surgeon. The study aimed to identify stressors related to PCNL by comparing the physical and mental workload experienced by urologists during PCNL under different patient positions and using two lithotripters.

Slippery liquid-infused porous surfaces (or "SLIPS") can prevent bacterial surface fouling, but they do not inherently possess the means to kill bacteria or reduce cell loads in surrounding media. Past reports show that the infused liquids in these materials can be leveraged to load and release antimicrobial agents, but these approaches are generally limited to the use of hydrophobic agents that are soluble in the infused oily phases. Here, we report the design of so-called "proto-SLIPS" that address this limitation and permit the release of highly water-soluble (or oil-insoluble) agents.

Purpose: To analyze the effects of ablation interruption on ablation depths and clinical refractive outcomes to characterize the impact of ambient temperature changes and ablation interruption on ocular surface temperature (OST) during excimer laser ablation.
Methods: This prospective study was conducted on laser ablations in polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) plates and porcine corneas to simulate laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) treatments using the EX500 laser (Alcon Laboratories, Inc) at ambient temperatures of 18, 20, and 22 °C. Ablation interruption was performed for 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 seconds at the 10th second of the treatment of -9.

Introduction: This study aimed to examine the impact of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection on the occurrence and prognosis of Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP).
Methodology: A total of 120 children diagnosed with HSP were selected as the experimental group, and 100 healthy children who underwent physical examinations were the control group. We compared renal function markers and quantified 24-hour urine protein in HSP children with different EBV infection statuses, and analyzed the association between EBV infection and Henoch-Schönlein purpura nephritis (HSPN).

Bone tissue is an important load-bearing organ of the human body. Moderate exercise enhances bone mass through mechanical loading, while high-intensity exercise may suppress it. Infrared therapy improves circulation, reduces pain/inflammation, and aids tissue repair.
