Age-related vertigo and balance disorders can lead to falls, fractures, and prolonged confinement to bed. Loss of mobility and/or social interaction may cause cognitive decline and lower quality of life, resulting in significant social and economic burdens. Aging societies urgently need treatments for vestibular decline, as no cures exist, and current therapies only provide symptomatic relief.

This study leverages bioinformatics to identify differential genes linked to lysosomal alterations in late-onset major depressivedisorder (LOD) patients and explores potential therapeutic drugs. We analyzed differential genes in the GSE76826 dataset usingWGCNA to identify modules associated with LOD. After intersecting with lysosomal genes, we utilized ROC and Lasso regression toassess diagnostic significance.

Background: Depression is a highly prevalent and debilitating psychiatric disorder, and while Apolipoprotein E (ApoE), a critical regulator of lipid transport and neuronal function, has been implicated in regulating depressive behaviors, the underlying mechanisms remain insufficiently understood.
Results: In this study, we explored the role of ApoE in depression using complementary animal models. We observed significantly reduced ApoE levels in the hippocampus of both chronic social defeat stress (CSDS) and lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced depression models, with ApoE knockout (ApoE) mice exhibiting exacerbated depressive-like behaviors.
