Article Abstract

A thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) tetrametallic Cu(I) metallacycle A behaves as a conformationally adaptive preorganized precursor to afford, through straightforward and rational coordination-driven supramolecular processes, a variety of room-temperature solid-state luminescent polymetallic assemblies. Reacting various cyano-based building blocks with A, a homometallic Cu(I) 1D-helical coordination polymer C and CuM discrete circular heterobimetallic assemblies D (M = Ni, Pd, Pt) are obtained. Their luminescence behaviors are studied, revealing notably the crucial impact of the spin-orbit coupling offered by the central M metal center on the photophysical properties of the heterobimetallic D derivatives.

The integration of multimodal therapies into a single nanoplatform promises significant advances in precision oncology, yet structural instability, premature drug leakage, and insufficient immune activation remain key challenges. Herein, a supramolecular metallacycle-based nanoplatform (M2S-AD NPs) is engineered through coordination-driven self-assembly and β-cyclodextrin-mediated host-guest encapsulation. The metallacycle exhibits aggregation-induced emission (AIE) characteristics to amplify NIR-II fluorescence (1084 nm) for real-time tumor imaging and achieves a record-high photothermal conversion efficiency (42.

The rational design and selective self-assembly of flexible and unsymmetric ligands into large coordination complexes is an eminent challenge in supramolecular coordination chemistry. Here, we present the coordination-driven self-assembly of natural ursodeoxycholic-bile-acid-derived unsymmetric tris-pyridyl ligand (L) resulting in the selective and switchable formation of chiral stellated PdL and PdL cages. The selectivity of the cage originates in the adaptivity and flexibility of the arms of the ligand bearing pyridyl moieties.

Metal-organic cages with polyoxometalate (POM) clusters as nodes are an emerging frontier of coordination-driven self-assembly, but they have been limited to homoleptic cages, which are composed of only one type of organic ligands. We show here that, in the construction of POM-organic cages with Keggin-type {SiWNi} cluster nodes, introducing a secondary ligand may change the self-assembly processes in two distinct ways: by coordination or as supramolecular templates. The use of a tetracarboxylate panel L, in complementary to a bent dicarboxylate linker (L or L), allows the integrative self-sorting to give heteroleptic coordination cages POML L (3 or 4) that are otherwise not accessible through either ligand alone.

Supramolecular adhesives, praised for their stimuli-responsiveness and reversibility, have gained significant attention. However, most of these adhesives demonstrate low tolerance to extreme environments and exhibit diminished adhesion performance after cyclic adhesion testing. Herein, a hierarchical self-assembly strategy is introduced for the construction of supramolecular polymer networks (poly(UIO-TA)) through dynamic disulfide bond crosslinking-induced assembly of metal-coordinated nanoparticles (UIO-TA).

Supramolecular metallorectangles - were successfully synthesized via a multicomponent coordination-driven self-assembly approach, combining Re(CO) with a boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY)-based ligand as a linear, ditopic linker, and an aminoquinonato ligand as a bischelating, tetratopic ligand in a single step. The metallorectangles were meticulously characterized through IR, NMR, UV-vis absorption and emission spectroscopy, elemental analyses, FESEM, and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. The rectangular structural feature of metallacyclophane was theoretically rationalized using DFT calculations, and its theoretical and experimental IR spectra were coherent.
